I don't see how it is viable to discuss day to day violence on a day to day basis. On this forum, that would require the creation of, as you said, 500 threads this year alone just for Chicago. So yeah, special cases like these mass shootings get coverage because they are special cases. That's it.

Meanwhile, it will continue to just be on an occasional basis that it is brought up because that's really all we can take.

Of course not. There is virtually NO concern over the deaths of young black men in this country every day. I basically got tired of giving a running body count during the Trayvon Martin ordeal because NO ONE CARES. There is no talk of sweeping the streets, cleaning up the gangs, taking their guns, more restrictive penalties, or any other proactive measures to end the violence that claims 12000 lives a year. But 40-50 a year...boy...that gets some action. You are making my point.

I don't follow you. There is no talk of sweeping the streets or cleaning up gangs? I don't see how you get that at all. You couldn't squeeze anymore Americans into jail if you wanted to. Poor people who live in ghettos tend to resort to crime - no matter what race. Crime tends to lead to violence. The problem isn't exactly hidden.

Fix the income disparity. Educate the poor better. Resolve the health care system's issues. Create better jobs.

Non of those have anything to do with policing or crime policy, and every one of those would help lower the murder rate.

Like I said. Totally laughable. We are just SO engaged in that problem. Right? 4-5 people dead in an inner city shooting...well...that's just drugs and hey...it's not really their fault. They iz oppressed! 4-5 people in rural Pa...front page news. Do you know how many "mass shootings" occurred in the days following the Connecticut school shootings? I'm willing to bet you don't know...and couldn't give a damn. Of course...I could just have MISSED all those threads.

That's exactly what I'm saying. How else would you explain the fact that these shootings take place where everyone present is 99%, or even 100% guaranteed to be unarmed and defenseless? These clowns don't choose "gun free zones" as their killing field by accident. That's just a fact, brother. In actuallity, a bar room would be much better kill zone, as far as finding a massed target goes, not to mention the loud ass music would mask the shooters fire for the first several seconds, giving him a huge advantage.

I am sure there have been attempted mass shootings in areas where people are well armed

you don't hear about them because the shooter is killed before there are enough casualties for the press to have antigungasms over such stories

You make a great point; shootings in well armed free fire zones produce a lower body count and the shooters gets to room temperature much sooner than in gun free zones. It totally kills the anti-gunner-freaks argument down.

One of the hysterical anti gunners posted some idiot study which only counted "massacres" as cases where more than four victims were killed. the study claimed in those cases armed shooters didn't stop things (duh-they were were all gun free zones) where shooters stopped the murders-those incidents were NOT COUNTED because the body count was not high enough

its like studying the efficacy of a drug and only counting cases where the patient died and then saying the drug was not effective (because where the patient was cured, the case was not factored into the study)

I just think it is comical that when it comes to 12000 murders and spree killings within the minority communities, well...dear...its just a social problem and guns don't even play into the equation.

Do we now have more people drawing social security disability than at any time in our history (about 8 million freeloaders)? Say yes.
Do we now have more people on food stamps (yes I know it has an ever changing name) than at any time in our history? Say yes.

Are you familiar with the phrase that perception in politics is reality?Do you think it matters that a small program was started under someone else? Obam and his regime have exploited it the same way they have all of the welfare programs.

Romney could not possibly win against Santa Claus. Romney and the Republican party had the message that if you work hard and smart you can get ahead. That message did not sell to one-half of the nation. They said, "Screw work! I am voting for the Plunder Party. No longer will I have to rob my neighbor in order to take his property.
