Will we ever know why this deranged dude's mother saw fit to have Glocks and Bushmaster type weapons in her home, let alone where her offspring could get to it?

What exactly are the chances of pushing through a constitutional amendment that would be necessary even to bring about such laws? How is that so many liberals think they can bring the absolution of guns in America without a Revolution/Civil War occurring?

I think that both sides have a hard time understanding the other. And, in light of what we have in control of power in DC these days, I am not so sure that civil war isn't what they want.

According to a news report I read this morning, she liked to collect guns, she liked to shoot them and she would shoot with her family.

Personally, I don't find that any different than my own circumstances. I have a WWII rifle, I like to shoot it and I shoot with my sons. Their mother and her husband have more guns than I do. My boys each own a .22 rifle and they've been shooting since they were 7 years old. One of my sons is 19, the other is 22 years old.

The only thing different is that both my sons are sane.

Guns are being taken away from the people who need to have them.

The tactic of disarming law abiding citizens and employing "gun safe zones" will only lead to more mass shootings, like the one yesterday.

Take for example the shooters mother. She owned those guns legally. Well guess what, she was disarmed by YOUR GUN CONTROL laws. Guess what happened?

I often wonder that myself. I generally chalk it up to stupidity and lack of understanding. But sometimes I have to wonder it triggering a crises like a civil war while a Liberal is in office isn't someone's plan. It would allow them to enact emergency powers and basically make the President at the time a dictator. For now, I am going with the "their just stupid" instead of the conspiracy theory.

It's a brutal and unsettling story, made all the more so by the fact that the perpetrator was a 22-year-old man with no connection to the victims. Bryan Clay was arrested Friday for the April 15 rapes and bludgeoning murders of a Ignacia Martinez and her 10-year-old daughter Karla.

Ignacia's husband Arturo Martinez was badly injured in the attack and is still recovering in the hospital. His two other sons were left unharmed.

"This was a complete stranger killing a mother and daughter and attacking the father," [Lt. Ray] Steiber told The Associated Press. "I've been doing this (police work) 24 years, and you don't see cases like this. I can't even put this into words."

Saying "there's no rhyme or reason to why," Steiber admitted that investigators have had trouble establishing motive. Nothing was taken from the house, and the two Ignacio sons were left alone. It was when the 9-year-old son reported what had happened to his school counselor the next day that Las Vegas police were notified.

Well, there is evidence that these sorts of mass killers seem to gravitate to places known for anti weapons policies.

How about a gun safe?

I understand she liked to target shoot, but she was also aware her son was having major issues. When not in use her weapons should have been in a locked gun safe. But that's hindsight. At the time I'm sure it never occurred to her the kid could do anything like what he did.

Edit: I see from another response of yours you don't get that gun safes come in many sizes. There are many models that fit rifles.

So, now you are not only attacking the tool used but you want to put the blame on the killers mother now? Tell me, Was it his mother that passed or voted for politicians who passed the string of laws that left these children vulnerable with no adults around them with the means of protecting them?

Because she liked shooting them. Because she was responsible and taught her children gun safety. Because a child, or in this case an adult child who could buy that "Bushmaster type" rifle on his own, who is taught proper gun handling and safety has no reason to be locked away from the families guns.

Every single person who has ever voted for the politicians that passed the policies and laws that left these children unprotected bears responsibility for creating the conditions that allowed this to happen. Those children's blood is upon their hands and soul also. They knew that such things have happened and could happen again, but insisted on laws that striped away the protection of these children instead of using a modicum of logic and providing these children with the protections they should of had.

You, the gun hater, are an accessory to the murder of these children. Now go pat yourself on the back with your own bloody hand.

I don't think so. Most make causal relationship errors. To many willing suspend disbelief to accept questionable data. This is done on both sides btw(I'm sure this part will be missed).

Duh, less chance of getting shot themselves before they complete their spree. Kind of hard to go on a spree where people are shooting at you.

You'd need a real heavy duty one. Your typical "gun safe" can be easily busted apart with simply a ballpeen hammer. But it's nonsense anyway, as he got the combination anyway. The kids an honors student. how many brain cells do you need to do a "mom, there is someone trying to break into house... combination please..."
