You called me a "bad joke" for comparing a form of discrimination (banning smoking) which is acceptable, to something (banning guns) that isn't even being considered. And when it's even mentioned it becomes what seems like a life or death situation for the NRA. Further "you know this may be hard for me to understand" implies that you are calling me stupid.
 
A law enforcement source tells CBS News that a Sig Sauer, a Glock 9 and a Bushmaster rifle were found at the scene. Preliminary information shows that Lanza purchased the weapons legally. CBS News reports that Lanza killed himself.

I don't much give a care about politics right now. All I know is I am hurting real bad inside. I want to see my granddaughter and little niece and let them know how much we love them. My heart goes out to the parents.

As for the murderer, may God have mercy on his soul, because I wouldn't.

My favorite argument by the gun nuts is where they tell us that the guy would have killed just as many if he'd had a knife or a brick or anything else you can name. One day, probably a long time from now, the American people are going to demand that some sort of sane gun control is enacted and the NRA will stop controlling the debate on this subject. Get ready for lots more dead school kids before that happens, however.
 
My heart goes out to all those affected by this. 18 Kindergartners killed and 6 adults, plus the parents of the shooter. This was obviously a very sick young man.

I can't imagine how I would feel if it had been one of my own.

Seriously? My saying, "Now you are just being a bad joke," is an insult to you after you mention you not being able to smoke cigs in a bar is somehow a rational comparison to what happened today? No . . . I would say you insulted the intelligence of anyone who read your words here today. You are one of the most disrespectfully selfish people I have ever witnessed on the Internets.

How about after the bodies of DEAD CHILDREN go cold, for the love of Christ! These families can't even begin processing the loss of life and people are raging over an issue that is already beat into the goddamn ground. If I were one of those parents I'd tell every zealot from both sides to shut up for a minute. How disrespectful.

On the grounds that guns have no other function than to kill. It should be assumed that if someone wants a gun they will use it for its intended purpose.

That is patently false. Guns have numerous other purposes, but primarily for defense.
They are also used for target shooting and hunting. Owning a gun teaches personal
responsibility which I do understand is not a "nanny state" requirement but some of us
still think its a good thing.

The attack in the Henan province village of Chengping happened shortly before 8 a.m., said a police officer from Guangshan county, where the village is located.

No motive was given for the stabbings, which echo a string of similar assaults against schoolchildren in 2010 that killed nearly 20 and wounded more than 50. The most recent such attack took place in August, when a knife-wielding man broke into a middle school in the southern city of Nanchang and stabbed two students before fleeing."
