Two Gunmen at Newtown, Conn., Elementary School Shooting, One Dead [W:449/490/584]

I'm sorry, but as this tragedy clearly demonstrates, we can no longer sweep the truth under the rug with falsehoods and distortions such as these. You don't even know my position on gun control, and yet you claim to know it simply because you see the word "liberal" under my screen name. People like you need to stop sweeping the issue of gun control under the rug and let the public have an honest conversation about guns. That is all I am calling for right now, no more.

Yes you are wanting to have a one-sided conversation. Liberals always do. Detroit--liberal failure; SE DC--liberal failure. Sit in whatever court does felonies on a couple sentencing days and get back to me about how many people who say, "I shouldn't go to prison, I am an addict" "It isn't my fault. I have bi-polar and was off my meds" or follow appeals where people shouldn't be put to death for killing people because their public defender didn't keep all the evidence against them out. Murders happen every day in America and it is never anybody's fault.

I was thinking that I was pretty damned upset that some 8 year olds had to go to school today and get killed because a bunch of mentally ill people with low self-esteem have to own a weapon because they're afraid of their own shadow that's all. And by mentally ill I mean that you all probably believe in god but not climate change even though one is right in front of your face and the other has never been seen.... ever.

Ah man more comedy thanks for that:lol:

Seriously . . . now you are just being a bad joke. Smoking in a bar? Again . . . sometimes I truly wonder about people.

Whatever, I smoke on my way to work and some people look at me like I'm death incarnate. Why is it that I'm the bad guy but the dude with the gun under his coat is all good? Explain that before you attempt to insult me again.

You're right, we're not.

And this makes me content.

Now if you will excuse me..... me and my gun are going to the bus stop to get my son.

Yes there are crazy people that do crazy things like this but EVERYTIME someone shoots someone else the gunnies cry insane person ahhhh. Maybe maybe not. There is such a thing as a crime of passion or someone just having to face too much. That doesn't mean they are crazy. Most people have times like this.

but they have to protect their delusion and so any time someone gets shot it can only be done by a crazy person.

Stupidist argument I have ever heard.

Sane people do not plan and shoot up places full of innocent people.

Very good speech by Obama. Heartfelt and sincere.

I wish I could hug a family member of the victims.

I did not insult you . . . whatever folks feel about you is based on your own words. It's not about folks looking at you sideways for smoking a cig. Seriously, I know this may be hard for you to understand, but this is not about you . . . and no one said a guy with a gun was "all good." Insult you? I don't need to, you damage your own reputation with your words . . . you don't need my help.

Damn, I can see this as a result of this 21 December psychosis. People start to freak out.
So, when are the media taking some responsibility about this? for promoting this BS. When?!
How about the two media morons that made that nurse kill herself for the crown?

My condolences to all families that lost people.

The gunmans girlfriend and her friend are reported missing.

President Obama states "meaningful action is needed" he went on "America sees these occurrences happening too often".

Paul

Shooter kills his brother, his mother, and almost 30 people, and it is only the guns fault. If I heard it right, CNN is saying shooter's mother worked at the school and was the primary target.

Again why aren't we discussing why ten adults where denied by law any right to defend themselves.

That's not much of an answer. D you think I'm not sufficiently intelligent to absorb your response? Don't you even want to try or is drive by sniping all that you're doing here? I suspect that you have no answer that would hold up in a sincere debate. Prove me wrong, please.

You proved yourself to be a defeatist, to be not be able to see that many more things can be done to reduce this when you state such resigning "reasoning". The first step would be for you to understand that you are wrong....but I am not required to prove to you anything. As a matter of fact, I don't have to do anything, I have the right to say you are wrong. i am not required to enlighten you to the multiple avenues that exist for reducing this....and I don't really believe it would make a difference since you have a firm belief that nothing can be done.

You just keep on going that way at your own peril, that is fine with me.

Preemptive gun defense politics. That didn't take long.

.....and another missed opportunity for liberals to open their damn eyes and see these things always have warning signs but we coddle the mentally ill, the trouble-makers, addicts and the criminals due to THEIR policies.

Actually I remember Ronnie Reagan, hallowed be his name, as turning many mentally ill out of Gubmint run 'nut farms' which were closed down. I thought 'conservatives' hated the liberals because they want to restrict firearm ownership to a wide variety of 'coddled' trouble-makers.

Where do we draw the line on restricting firearm ownership due the mental illness, trouble making, criminal behavior?

I don't see arming teachers as a well thought out 'conservative' solution. Imagine arming one of the biggest remaining Unions left in this country.

I don't see many 'conservative' CCW's stepping forward to start teaching in the public school system and frankly not so sure many teachers would wish to add to their classroom burden with firearm instruction and routine quals. I don't see any insurance company underwriting a school district where armed teachers are not trained at least as well as rookie cops in legal issues, marksmanship, and unlike CCWs they will be expected to move TOWARD armed gunman, not merely stand their ground in self defense. Bit more to that than just running down the hall waving your .380 in the air...

I wonder if people believe guns kill people also believe in the following controls:

  • Planes kill people, like the 9/11 attacks (Plane Control) Not the actual people who decided to hijack the planes
  • Cars kill people, like the recent Dallas Cowboys incident (Car Control) Not the driver DWI
  • Atomic Bombs kill people, like Hiroshima (Bomb Control) Not the people dropping the bomb
  • Gas Chambers kill people, like in Germany (Gas Control) Not the people operating the gas chambers

If this is what you understand "conservatives" hate liberals for, then you don't know much about conservatives.

ohhh christ!

cars are not weapons
planes are not weapons
Only government have nukes
only government have gas chambers.

LAME argument

Rocks kill people.

Screwdrivers kill people.

Alcohol kills people.

Candlesticks kill people.

Fire Pokers kill people.

Fishing Line kills people.

I can go on forever.

These are all tools that have been used to kill people by...... PEOPLE.

Cars kill more people than any of the above. Lets ban cars.

If you are using the gun correctly(defense of property and small animals from preditors) then a gun is no more a weapon than a stick, just a more effective tool.
