Democrats threaten violence on Michigan House floor

That is, indeed, what it was supposed to be.

We used to say that two Supposedtas and a dime would get you a cup of coffee, but that's out of date.

Now, two Supposedtas and five bucks will get you a tall latte mocha with fru fru's on top.

A "Supposedta" is about of the same value as a wuzgonna.

You know, as in "I wuzgonna do those dishes, wuzgonna give you your twenty bucks back, wuzgonna pick up that mess, etc."

Or, the president "wuzgonna" reduce the deficit.

Actually, you called it a tax, which is what it is in reality.

The difference is Medicare and SS can go back to being what they were supposed to be but too many people buy your opinion that a tax is a tax and all money should go into the General Fund. If you operated that way by spending your long term obligations in the short term you would be bankrupt.

Dude I was a working stiff then, quit this assuming you know my age.

I see you have forgotten what the conversation was about, it was about your continuing confusion about who is paying into the general fund. Just once I would like to see you remember that the SS Trust Fund has been and is being used to fund discretionary spending and for you to stop saying "it was never intended to". Stop lying to yourself.

I will be happy to stop when you stop defending the indefensible. SS and Medicare are to be funded by the payroll tax(FICA) and have no business on the general fund. Just because they are in the general fund doesn't make it right but it does give people like you the ability to distort reality.

The poor do pay for medicare and Social security, if they have jobs.

They get that money back, now and later. There are so many deductions and credits in the income tax system that the bottom 25 million tax filers only pay about 400million in income tax, thats a few dollars each on average. And these are the same people who get all sort of welfare assistance, making their contribution negative.

How is my saying that FICA taxes ARE used in the general fund "distorting" anything.....especially when YOU finally come around to remembering that fact? Where was I "defending" this practice? When will you give up the notion that 50% are not contributing to the general fund?

Stop lying to yourself.

Now I can see and fully understand why we have a problem in this country. People like you simply cannot understand the purpose of taxes which are to fund what we need not fund what we want. The idea that FICA is put into the General Fund doesn't change the reality that it was never intended for the general fund and there is nothing but partisan bull**** preventing it from being removed from the general fund. Your argument that people pay for SS and Medicare thus put money into the General fund as an argument that the poor do pay taxes is typical liberal diversion and distortion of reality.

A good shoot-out would be healthy and cleansing and we'll finally find out who is in charge around here. This will create jobs as the death toll mounts, bullet holed walls will need patching etc., the dead will have to be replaced, the wounded cared for and this can surely lead us to economic resurgence PLUS it doesn't matter who wins, just that somebody does.

Yep, that would be a "stimulus" that doesn't all wind up in the pockets of Obama supporters.

If you don't want to join a union dont join one.. How damn hard is that. I'm an Ironworker. No one forced me to join, infact I wanted to join. If I didn't want to pay union dues, then I easily could have found another line of work.

They arent. They get the money back.

In certain states its hard. You do not have the freedom to work out your own contract with an employer.

All of this hand wringing and faux outrage about the tweet of Doug Geiss is quite amusing. Geiss is a very mild mannered man who has a degree in engineering and a masters in business. he was previously a white collar management employee at Ford Motor Company. The idea that he is the right wing cliche of what they like to call a "union thug" is downright hilarious.

His tweet yesterday referred to other comments he made how the Republicans were intentionally creating a poisonous atmosphere in work places which could well result in arguments, fights and spilt blood. It was NOT a rallying cry for violence or any of the other over the top nonsense that he has been accused of. His office is on the same floor as ours is and I have been in many a meeting with him.

Read the thread, read the Op. The anti-RTW folks tried to roll their crap into the Michigan constitution and it was soundly rejected by the voters.

The Proposition 2 campaign and results have not a damn thing to do with the right to work laws passed yesterday except in the right wing minds of those who attempted to make the connection as a stupid excuse for their actions. It is akin to "the devil made us do it."

No it not Perry's Texas Has Highest Percentage Of Minimum Wage Jobs In The Nation | ThinkProgress

Perry and the rest of the Republicans in this state have ruined it.

You just don't get it nor do you understand minimum wage. TX pays the Federal Minimum wage and California isn't counted because the state has its own. You try to live in California on $8 per hour compared to TX at $7.25. Stop buying what you are told and get the facts. It is the Federal Minimum wage that is counted by the BLS not the individual state minimum wage. California has more than a million more on California minimum wage than TX has on the Federal Minimum wage.

LOL, do you really need a union to negotiate wages and benefits for you? Of course not, that is just for everyone else that aren't nearly as smart as you. Guess far too many don't have enough pride in themselves to get anything done without the help of a union thus aren't worth nearly as much as the unions are getting for them. Wonder if you would have rehired those 13 Chrysler workers caught drinking and smoking pot on their lunch hour if they were employees of your private business? You see what unions have come to? No wonder less than 12% of the work force is unionized with most of those in the public sector.

The Texas Independent added, “the median hourly earnings for all Texas workers was $11.20 per hour in 2010, compared to the national median of $12.50 per hour.”

You should try reading the articles sometimes.

You ought to move to one of those high paying high tax states. You ought to worry more about what you are making vs. what someone else is making. Guess personal responsibility doesn't exist in your world. Doubt seriously that you ever had a union negotiate anything for you because you were smart enough and good enough to do it yourself. By the way BLS has it at 15.44 per hour in TX considering all occupations.

Your claim means nothing with out a link.

BTW I have lived and worked in New York City at gigs most people dream about.

Right, love visiting NYC and spent a lot of time there. Sounds like a place right up your alley since all you ever do is complain about TX. Best move I ever made moving to TX in 1992. Too bad you always look at the grass on the other side of the fence as being greener.

He made the statement publicly. He owns it.

There is video which clearly shows union thugs engaging in violence and mob behavior

A black hotdog cart owner named Clint Tarver was taunted by radical marxist/socialist/collectivist union thugs with racial slurs after they destroyed his cart

"N*gger Uncle Tom"

Beyond the Cart: The Story of Clint Tarver - YouTube

Apparently he was hired by the AFP to serve food. He was a Romney Supporter, therefore it's perfectly fine to call him racial slurs and destroy his business

Romney’s Saturday started off well. He was the star of the Ingham County Lincoln Day breakfast, an eggs-and-coffee-and-county-commissioner-placards affair in the dining room of a Lansing, Mich., country club.

Before he spoke, Republicans heard “The Star-Spangled Banner” sung by the Old School Fellas, a zoot-suited amateur doo-wop group. “Mitt’s a good, Christian man like I am,” explained Clinton Tarver, wearing the reddest of the zoot suits.

Something that the kids of today need to think about. My how times have changed and our union buddies don't seem to understand personal responsibility

I can't believe we made it - YouTube

Good vid. I talk about this at work all the time. I simply can't believe the crap that I now have to go through, as a parent. All the things kids can't do these days. It's unreal to me, and I frankly, now, completely understand why kids watch TV or play video games all day...because their not allowed to do anything else.
