Govt. borrows 46 cents of every dollar it spends

I'm talking about stopping UHC, weening off SS, and spending less money in general. I am fine with cutting the defense budget as well.

Would you have us ween off of payroll taxes as well?

Spending less money is a great idea. Let's start by not giving it away to entities "too big to fail", not subsidizing unprofitable industries, not giving money away to foreign nations, cutting back that trillion in means tested welfare, and reforming health care to something we can actually afford. That would save a ton of money.

....but we can keep subsidizing the profitable ones, right?

With the current and persisting situation in the Social Security Fund, cutting the payroll tax rate was absurd.

It is a great example of our congresspricks willing to anything to buy votes....

It was triage. The economy Bush left was in more dire need of attention than was SS, which is still solvent for the next 26 years. The economy could not wait that long.
