DETROIT (WJBK) -- The city of Detroit faces a major financial crisis...

City Council member JoAnn Watson said Tuesday the citizens support of Obama in last month's election was enough reason for the president to bailout the struggling the city.

"Our people in an overwhelming way supported the re-election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo and you ought to exercise leadership on that," said Watson. "Of course, not just that, but why not?"

Nearly 75 percent of Wayne County voters pulled the lever for Obama in November.

"After the election of Jimmy Carter, the honorable Coleman Alexander Young, he went to Washington, D.C. and came home with some bacon," said Watson. "That's what you do."

What did you think Obama/Biden were talking about when they were campainging for saving/creating the "jobs" of teachers, police and fireighters? That, my friend, was the Obama bacon "promise". These are state/county/city gov't employees that the left will now fund handsomely using federal "tax" dollars as stimulus. Only the federal gov't can borrow and/or print that money, so that federal bacon will be "gifted" to those (blue?) states/counties/cities that keep demorats in power. Yes they can!

Sure "the left rich" will gladly offer 10% more in taxation, for about 4x that much in gov't income redistribution to the masses, as it all comes back to them via spending on comsumption/entertainment. Remember that these rich folks are "offering" to fully fund only 8 days of federal spending, not the other 357 days of the year that are still running at a 40% defict. Yes they can!

1. They don't have to ask for higher rates... just give the money. If I were in Congress I would ask the president what he thinks the top rate would be, and then demand he pay taxes retroactively; interest included.

2. I love this line "where people are asking the President to take money from"... that's Parasite Nation... take it from 'em and give it to us. Spread that wealth around man. Tax and spend. "Invest" (spend) in our future... the parasites.

I don't think she used the term "bail out" exactly, but it's hard not to conclude that's what she means. See the link in the OP.

I have no doubt that's part of what Obama intends to do with the extra spending money he's demanding. Votes such as those in Detroit must be paid for.

I wasn't suggesting it was the solution, merely offering a counterpoint to zimmers "everyone just wants money" argument. I am a firm believer that the government is going to have to do some major spending cuts in order to balance the budget.

1. Perhaps the government should just pass out a collection plate every Sunday at the millionaires luncheon. And last I checked, the President does want to raise his own taxes.

2. They are offering the money willingly. It's called being part of a United Nation and wanting to help your fellow Americans out. I wish there were more parasites like this.

So...I guess she thinks Detroit is "too big to fail", eh?

Well, I have a few suggestions for Ms. Watson and her leaders:

1. Lady, looking at you, I'd say you could do without any more "bacon".

2. Detroit should grow up and learn to take care of themselves.

3. If, by some chance, Obama does bail them out...it will be wasted taxpayer money unless severe restrictions and requirements are attached to the cash.
 
This is nothing new, it started when Obama was first elected. This country is now cemented as a Welfare State. Liberals have been buying the union vote for ever. It's all about free stuff. All a politician has to do is offer up more free stuff and it's an automatic win. Liberals buy votes, Obamacare was bought with bribes.

Liberals, tax, borrow, spend, and give free stuff. And more and more Americans are catching on fast. Sit in your front porch rocking chair with a 6 pack and watch the liberals destroy this country. They want the rich bastards to pay more, and more, and more, until it's all gone, then they'll scream in the streets "I want my entitlements".

What's going on in the progressive movement is pathetic. This country has flipped from one of self-resilience and responsibility, to one of government dependence.

In my mind, it is much simpler than that.

Many uneducated people believe that governments and large corporations are flush with tons of cash.

They believe that there is a little leprechaun who makes money at night, and they can afford anything.

They are devoid of any fiscal responsibility and common sense.

Learned something new today. You can literally write a check to the government. This was something I was unaware of.

Also, Congress can, but rarely do, payback part of their salary to the government.

Quid pro quo for votes is pretty disgusting and to just come out right out and say that was your intent is even worse. While people have been voting for the guy they think will make or help make their lives easier and better is nothing new, hell one could argue its the entire reason to vote, the idea that the government now owes you and not other people because you voted for the winner and other people didn't is pretty damn disgraceful
