Canada recalls diplomats after Palestinians win UN vote - Canada - CBC News

Canada is temporarily recalling its heads of mission to Israel and the West Bank, along with its United Nations representatives in New York and Geneva, to protest the Palestinians' successful bid on Thursday for upgraded status in the UN.
Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird pledged to "review the full range of its bilateral relationship" with the Palestinian Authority in the wake of the vote in New York City.
"I want to get a sense from the diplomats what they see on the ground, how they see things going, and how we can effectively respond to what could be a new reality," Baird told CBC News in an interview from New York on Friday.
Canada was one of nine countries, including the U.S. and Israel, to oppose upgrading the UN observer status of the Palestinian Authority from "entity" to "non-member state."

How dare the nations of the world exercise their sovereinty and vote in a way they think is best to solve a long standing problem.

And its not as if the vote was close - it was a total slaughter with only the USA, Canada, Czech Republic and Israel (with the some small bribed/bullied nations joining the gang like Panama, Marshall islands, Nauru, Palua, Micronesia - lol)

Perhaps Harper can shut down the Canadian embassies in Sweden or Italy - maybe even in all 130+ countries that voted for the Palestinians???

The most significant aspect of this outcome is that the UK abstain from voting (along with 40 other nations) but not before trying to bribe the Palestinians. Apparently the UK offered to give their YES vote provided the Palestinians did NOT pursue Israeli war crimes in the International Criminal Court. Now that they have attained non-member observer status in the UN General Assembly the Palestinians can join international organisation and sign up to conventions and treaties - which includes the ICC.

I can see why Harper was frothing at the mouth like a petulent teenager

Yet one more indication of why the United Nations is a totally useless institution. piss ant third world despots call the shots and timid Europeans fall into line.

Where were all you when the Kurds asked for their own nation? Do you have to kill the people in your territory to get it?

With that thinking, go ahead texas, kill all non-texans, and you can get out of dodge. Simplified idea of what is going on there, but why the Palestinians? Why not the other groups?
