CIA closes its climate change offices

When a corporation starts charging me taxes, I'll want to hear all about what you're selling.

Youre broke because you have a fascist Corpocracy in charge of everything in the USA

Youre broke because when these fascist Corporate instruments and Banksters go broke, the state and tax payer bails them out - they are on a continual corporate welfare drip feed. Trillions of dollars funneled into these corporate scams and into the pockets of these bankster crooks

And you are worried about a CIA office in one city that is probably costing a few million dollars per year to run?

Have a good look around as to who is bending you over each day and de-rimming your essence

Probably a top secret weapon to melt the ice caps to flood Russia. They closed it because the cold war is over.

They just want us to think they are closing their climate-change office. They are really just relocating it to the same mysterious ship that is seen in the arctic whenever the glacier melt speeds up.....

So, they closed an office.

Who here thinks that, as a result, the CIA's budget is going to be reduced one iota?

In sensitivity analysis one examines possible impacts of scenarios. One scenario might be a +2.5°C increase in global temperatures from a doubling of carbon dioxide coupled with the latest scientific thinking concerning such factors ranging from the incidence/intensity of heat waves to sea level rise. The CIA does not seek to affirm or reaffirm those ideas. It looks at possible economic, social, and geopolitical impacts should such a scenario occur. The logical question then concerns what are the national security/policy implications of such scenarios for the U.S. Of course, as with any analysis there is uncertainty.

Just a couple points of clarification:

The Green house effect of every incremental increase of CO2 in the atmosphere has a logarithmically decreasing impact. The entire contribution of CO2 to the atmosphere from the combined industry of the United States is less than the contribution of the CO2 emitting from the bogs of the thawing perm frost in Siberia each year.

well gee I don't know.. God forbid the government takes action in considering the possible implications of our planet's CONSTANTLY CHANGING CONDITIONS.

Super spies...

Is there anything they don't know?

Months? No, most of what we know we learned fairly soon. One reason this hasn't caught the fire some conservatives want is because liken so much they overstate the situation. I t,hint you're doing that here as we'll.

You think that overstatement is the thing that makes a Liberal ignore something? That's interesting. Do ever listen to Liberals?

The incremental increase of CO2 would currently be zero without human activity adding CO2 to the atmosphere.

Did the victims not immediately request aid?

.

This is astonishing news.

Who will do all the spinning and propaganda dissemination for EXXON and the Peabody Coal company now?

You may have to write to your member of congress

The issue is humanity's marginal contribution. Without that marginal contribution of greenhouse gases, the earth's natural emissions and absorption would be in balance and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations would not be rising.

In every period of warming, the sequestration of CO2 in places like Siberia has reduced causing increased CO2 in the atmosphere. The warming started prior to the Anthropogenic contribution of CO2 to the atmosphere.

It is reasonable to assume that the pre-existing warming would have caused increased emission of CO2 from natural sources absent the anthropogenic contribution which is about 3 % of the annual total contribution from all sources.

Again, I'm unable to see any connection to what I wrote and your response.

Out of curiosity, do you think that this balanced just happened?

It seems reasonable that the balance occurred in this very dynamic system because the variety of things that eat CO2 caught up with the variety of things that emit CO2.

The level of CO2 rose precipitously after the latest Ice Age ended. This occurred because areas that were under glaciers warmed, thawed and released the sequestered CO2 that the Frozen Tundra, even that outside of Lambeau Field, was holding.

Right now, today, the thawing bogs of Siberia are releasing more CO2 sequestered there than the combined industry of the USA.

This tells us two things: 1) The Frozen tundra of the Siberian bogs locked through recorded history in perm frost once grew various Carbon based life forms, but that was before they froze. We are warming to the point at which they were before they froze and: 2) The contribution made by Man to the atmosphere is really pretty small as a apart of the whole.
