Arlington Cemetery pic sparks outrage, calls for woman's firing

If she refused to leave the grounds immediately they can arrest her. That is why I wrote "if needed arrest her."

This is grounds of the US Army. It is similiar to entering a military base where you don't have all the freedoms you do in the civilian world.

As I said in another posting, even the Westboro Baptist Church are smart enough to know there little B.S. show would last about 5 seconds inside Arlington.

Right... but this is about a picture that she posted and not about her violating policies on a US Army base...

No, I wasn't accepted into the military because I refused to take a job as an aeronautical mechanic. Eventually they would have put me through school to become a pilot... I have no interest now or then to drop bombs on innocent people..

The United States Army in 2001 denied my entry not because I had previous pot charges but because I was not willing to learn their aircrafts and eventually fly one.

The United States Army told me they would only grant me a waiver if I accepted the MOS assignment that they wanted me to do... I said no so we parted ways...

BTW, there is nothing wrong with John Galt - read a book or two.

And "Who is John Galt" is the catch phrase to symbolize hopelessness and doesn't the lady Daggert imply that we all are John Galt? So your sig works just fine.

John Galt implies hope... I suppose socialists will see differently.

Not sure if they have the right to fire her or not... my contention was with the glee that some seem to have at the idea of her getting fired.

Anyone who is gleeful clearly has issues besides passion. Was it a deserved firing? Debatable, though I'd argue yes. Was it insensitive? Unquestionably. But to be glad about a young woman losing her career over a stupid mistake is vicious and vindictive. It's a tragic situation...glee should be the furthest thing from anyone's mind.

Yes - seriously. It's stupidity and annoying but not a criminal offense.

I don't get the backlash. It honesty seems to be worse than anything she could have managed.

John Galt implies hope... Who is John Galt implies the hopelessness of being lost until they find Galt/hope. And maybe they do...

You can interpret Atlas Shrugged all you like..... That is the beauty of art...

Sorry, Ayn Rand isn't my cup of tea. I'm not much into greedy social darwinists.

No anybody who isn't a Libertarian sees it differently. Thankfully, that's almost everybody.

Right... but this is about a picture that she posted and not about her violating policies on a US Army base...

Only because nobody affiliated with Arlington saw her. Unfortunately.

If you think that some idiot holding her hands in front of her face in front of a sign is what's primarily wrong with this nation, you must not have any idea what's going on in this country whatsoever.

People have the right to be disrespectful on their facebook (freedom of speech), it's one of the many rights the men of this country fought and died for.

I truly pity you if you can't see what our national debt and wars are doing to this country.

People have a right to be disrespectful, sure; however, I have a right to be equally judgemental. As for wars and debt...Huh?

Of course you do, you, just like her, can be as judgemental as you wish.

What you clearly seemed to miss was:
She is exactly what's wrong with this nation. There is no shame in anything, **** authority is the mantra.
Of all the things that could be wrong with this country, THIS, is what you pick as an example for THE thing? If only people were more respectful this country wouldn't be in the bad shape it's in?

As long as we distract ourselves with stupid a** BS like this, instead of looking at ACTUAL issues, we're going to continue to have problems. So in my opinion, you are what's wrong with this country. You, the typical american voter who gets wrapped up in idiotic sensationalistic stories like this instead of finding the real issues.

Yes! This country no longer has a barometer for shame.

Tim-

Well, ya coulda fooled me - given the tone of your posts. And no, I didn't 'lie' about you. I simply drew a conclusion from the tone of your posts, which as far as I can tell, you haven't refuted. 'Lowest form of scum'? Classy.

Well then you are just not too bright now are you. I have explained myself. I have explained how I see what she did, and even what she says she did. But you want to flat out lie about who I do and do not respect. You have to try and smear my character because you have a weak position.

Point out exactly where I disrespect anyone. If you could.

Its funny how a chicken **** like you can lie your ignorant ****ing face off about me and I get infracted. Yet your bitch ass is what?

****ing typical.

So this is the man's opinion to which he is priviledge to have. In fact he is correct in that there is a lost of respect for our country and fellow contrymen. On the national level you have politicians who have this patriotic respect for you while filling that back pocket and on the local level you have people as such who have no respect for those who gave so much for them.

But why not come off your high horse and tell us what you personally have done about the debt and wars which you state are our biggest problems.

In fact it is breaking the US Army's code of conduct on their property.
You may just think of it as a teen prank but ask these guys what they think of it.image003[1].jpg

It was annoying, offensive to many, so she should be fired?

She's not in the service - there's a whole host of things my husband lives by that others don't. . . and me, too, being married into the military.

It's not a fire able offense - it doesn't bump her down to the level of a thief.

Why does this negate the overall 'she shouldn't have done it, what a dumbass' response to you?

Oh, so now you respect someone's right to their own opinion? Or only when it meshes with yours? You're part of the same group of whiners that believe she should've been fired for her opinion.

And yeah, nice way to try to tie "respect" back into the debt crisis. Not even close to what caused it, homie.

It's strange, I think, what elicits extreme responses and what doesn't - it's like Russian roulette with public opinions.

No anybody who isn't a Libertarian sees it differently. Thankfully, that's almost everybody.

You're pretty confused... And you imply you're slightly "liberal?"

You apparently have no idea what liberalism is defined as...

John Galt is an idea of freedom - an expression of individuality.

I can't say I'm shocked you cannot understand the "John Galt concept" considering you're "slightly progressive."

You need to understand that you're not liberal - you're a progressive. Don't even attempt to portray yourself as a liberal.

I'd suggest you read the rules.

And chill out, for God's sake.

You'll forgive me if I don't consider an Ayn Rand devotee as an expert on liberalism. In fact I don't consider Ayn Rand devotees as expert on anything.

No she shouldn't have been fired, however progressives have created a society where people are fired for their political ideas and beliefs.

This is what happens when people are treated as sheep and don't go with the flow...

People get fired all the time for making anti-Obama statements or anti-homosexual statements (among other "anti" statements) on facebook or other social media sites. It all started with progressives firing people for making controversial statements.

Like I said - this is what happens when individuals are judged....

I'm not a devotee to anything or anyone but God.

The simple fact you use language like "devotee" shows you have no concept of individualism.

I'm not a devotee to Ayn Rand - I agree with Ayn Rand. Ayn Rand isn't God, Ayn Rand isn't and wasn't a leader - she was a person just like me with ideas...

You see, you wouldn't understand because you view society as leaders and followers and we should all do what we're told like a bunch of sheep. Well, who says what we're told to do is the right thing to do? in what universe is brainwashing an individual to follow the pack while leaving them to neglect their own ideas of what is right and wrong the right thing to do?

Everyday a progressive will call me a racist hatemonger for disagreeing with Obama, but these same fools will turn around and bash Bush as if that doesn't contradict their own opinions on hate or disagreement... So they can hate Bush but I cant disagree with Obama? They can burn a US flag because they're all bent about war (and a war they now support now that a democrat is president) but I cant fly my flag upside down because I feel this country is in distress??

Funny how I respect their freedoms yet they don't respect mine.

You can save your answer because I already know what it is "I don't believe that" - I call that typical denial.

Then you attack the idea of John Galt? the idea of individualism, the idea to say "no" to the leader of the pack? the idea to not conform? to not join a union and take on their collectivist ideologies?

The simple fact that you're questioning my ideas shows that you don't comprehend what I'm telling you and that you're one of the collectivists, if that wasn't the case you would be agreeing with me right now.

Now, you can go ahead and write a few sentences proclaiming that I'm a loon or a "moonbat" for believing in individualism and liberty...
