Top U.S. commander in Afghanistan under investigation, scandal widens

Of course. That is why I commented as I did.

The FBI was investigating Patraeus since the summer. And, we're supposed to believe that the President of The United States wasn't told that his Director of Central Intelligence was being investigated by the FBI until 7 November?

Maybe just preperation for John Kerry to take charge.

Or, maybe someone is trying to purge the military of general officers that aren't exactly loyal to the regime? Perhaps to replace them with officers who are less likely to offer, "resistance", should the regime try to sieze power? Looks scarily like other events in history.

All relieved of duties, quit or under fire in the past few weeks. All high ranking. Can anyone add to the list? Sounds unprecedented to me.

*Gen. John R. Allen, the top American and NATO commander in Afghanistan

*General Patraeus-CIA Director

*Rear Admiral Charles Gaouette-Command of Carrier Strike Group 3

*General Carter Ham- Commander AFRICOM

Also General Ward was Busted down from 4 stars to 3 and forced out of the Military, yesterday. Then there is General Sinclair's Trial going and he has come out and stated if he is going down so are others.

Also we have had a Captain Removed from a Flagship of the line and A Colonel in Afghanistan.

We don't know if that's accurate. There is an ongoing investigation into the events in Benghazi.

We do know that as she gave a Speech at a College and it is on U Tube. Her exact words we were Holding prisoners in the Consulate. Probably why the FBI went back and searched her home Monday for over two hrs. They took in 2 boxes.

Which was after they declared the situation Not a national Security Issue.

It's really strange how this other general seems to have some kind of relationship with his family friend (Kelley) the one who was being intimidated. Makes you wonder what the hell kind of love triangle and twists were going on with these top officers?

Kelly was a Military social she set up parties for Officers and Worked for Chairties for Veterans and Military Personnel.

Wonder why Broadwell wanted to take the General down?

Not just Broadwell. Kelley too.....she knew what her actions would entail going to the FBI being Military.

I think women can also become drunk with power.

The craziest part, is how the FBI knrw about the affair before Patreaus became DCI and didn't tell ANYBODY.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The sex scandal that led to CIA Director David Petraeus' downfall widened Tuesday with word the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan is under investigation for alleged "inappropriate communications" with another woman involved in the case. Some of the material was "flirtatious," an official said.

Even as the FBI prepared a timeline for Congress about the investigation that brought to light Petraeus' extramarital affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta revealed that the Pentagon had begun an internal investigation into emails between Gen. John Allen and a Florida woman involved in the case.

Some of the 20,000-plus pages of documents and emails between Allen and Tampa socialite Jill Kelley were "flirtatious," according to a senior defense official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to discuss the case publicly. It wasn't immediately clear who wrote the flirtatious notes — Allen, Kelley or both.

Allen succeeded Petraeus as the top American commander in Afghanistan in July 2011, and his nomination to become the next commander of U.S. European Command and the commander of NATO forces in Europe has now been put on hold, as the scandal seemed certain to ensnare another acclaimed military figure.

In the latest revelations, a Pentagon official traveling with Panetta to Australia said "inappropriate communications" — 20,000 to 30,000 pages of emails and other documents from Allen's communications with Kelley between 2010 and 2012 — are under review. The official would not say whether they involved sexual matters or whether they are thought to include unauthorized disclosures of classified information. He said he did not know whether Petraeus is mentioned in the emails.

Allen has denied wrongdoing. He was due to give Panetta a recommendation soon on the pace of U.S. troop withdrawals in 2013. If Allen was found to have had an affair with Kelley, he could face charges of adultery, which is a crime under the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

The decision by the FBI to hand off the Allen information to the military seems to indicate the issue is not one involving the handling of classified information, but rather some other issue.

A federal law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss details of the investigation, said the FBI had concluded relatively quickly — and certainly by late summer at the latest — that there was no security breach. Absent a security breach, it was appropriate not to notify Congress or the White House earlier, this official said.

In another twist, an FBI agent who was a friend of Kelley and who passed along information from her to the agents who conducted the investigation, was subsequently told by his superiors to steer clear of the case because they grew concerned that the agent had become obsessed with the investigation, a federal law enforcement official said. Before the case involving Petraeus got under way, the agent had sent Kelley shirtless photos of himself, according to this official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the investigation.....snip~

Pic of Jill Kelley. Her home 1.8 million dollar home they are about to lose. She also Says she is a Social Ambassador to South Korea and that she is inviolatable. Both her and her husband have been sued 9 times.

Both Petraeus and Allen wrote Character letters of reference for kelleys Identical Twin Sister who was going thru a Divorce.

What Ms. Broadwell said in her speech is not in question. The accuracy of her claim that prisoners were being held in the Consulate remains is not known, at least by the general public.

Then why has the CIA released a statement that they were not holding any Prisoners, and that they did not know the Consulate was?

Some info that General Allen is slated to give Obama.

Allen had been expected to take a lead role in making the case to Obama in coming weeks on how many troops to keep in Afghanistan as part of a residual force after the drawdown of most combat forces by the end of 2014. Commanders on the ground are widely known to favor keeping a larger contingent behind than many of Obama's aides support.

Petraeus, who had long been admired on both sides of the political aisle, might have been able to lend credibility to the administration's account of what happened.

His testimony as CIA chief also might have helped Rice, a front-runner to succeed Clinton as secretary of state. If he is ordered to testify anyway, Petraeus' appearance would be an awkward moment for the administration.

Rice had been singled out by Republicans as a misleading voice for the administration in the early days after the Benghazi attack, as officials initially wrestled with the question of whether al Qaeda operatives were involved.

Rice and the administration first said the attack appeared to be a response to a YouTube video that offended Muslims; later the White House acknowledged al Qaeda's involvement.

The last thing Obama, fresh from his re-election victory over Republican Mitt Romney, wanted to do was head overseas with his national security team in disarray.....snip~

Then why has the CIA released a statement that they were not holding any Prisoners, and that they did not know the Consulate was?

Preliminary public statements notwithstanding, does the public know for a fact that prisoners were being held in the Consulate?

As far as I know, there are no conclusive answers to that question that have been made public. I don't think one should jump to premature conclusions before the examination process has been completed.

Something Gen Allen had to say Oct 1 of this year that did not sit to well with Obama and Karzai.....

The top American commander of troops in Afghanistan showed signs of impatience about the growing spate of insider attacks that have taken a toll on U.S. troops during a blunt interview on "60 Minutes" Sunday night.

"I'm mad as hell about them, to be honest with you," Gen. John Allen said in response to a question about the incidents, which the military calls insider, or green-on-blue, attacks. "We're going to get after this. It reverberates everywhere, across the United States. You know, we're willing to sacrifice a lot for this campaign. But we're not willing to be murdered for it."

President Barack Obama's plan for withdrawal from Afghanistan calls for the U.S. to train Afghan security forces to defend their own country as most of the remaining 68,000 U.S. troops return home in 2014.

On Sunday, the Pentagon formally announced the death of the 2,000th servicemember in the war in Afghanistan, a gruesome benchmark in a conflict that has now lasted 11 years. So far this year, about 1 in 5 combat-related deaths of a U.S. or NATO-allied troop has been at the hands of Afghan friendly fire, according to Reuters.

Last week, a former top defense official who currently advises the campaign of President Barack Obama said that the green-on-blue killings were largely a sign of "Taliban desperation" and a "Very Occasional" occurrence.....snip~

Gen. John Allen: 'I'm Mad As Hell' About Insider Attacks In Afghanistan (VIDEO)

From Huffpo themselves Oct 1 of this year. Team Obama says its very occasional and the Taliban is desperate. Reuters and the US army says 1 out 5 attacks our Troopers been killed by friendly fire. Team Obama also fails to mention that they gave the Taliban an office in Qatar with their so called desperation for winning a War.

Does the fact that Military leadership is predominately Republican have any traction in this matter. I observe that as the problem with the FBI investigator. Great opportunity for Obama to replace some "thorns." Or not?

I've heard one Network suggest that Obama's staff was putting pressure on Patraeus to give a favorable report to Congress on the Libyan incident, which I guess he wasn't going to do? So they used an investigation into an old affair as a story to drum him out and prevent testimony. It's become such a mess, which could be the strategy that who knows what happened and why? I bet Hillary and Patraeus himself want to tell but the back story has got some kind of National Security (embarrassment) tag on it preventing them.

kelleys Identical Twin Sister

Identical twin sisters? What guy wouldn't drop his career for that action? Can't blame him.

Here is what Feinstein had to say last Sunday. Note what she says about Benghazi that has her attention. Hundreds of threats.

Also about how something should have been done in Libya. Especially with the Libyans saying they were sorry they couldn't protect our people. She states there literally hundreds of threats warning in the material that has been accumulated. With 5 Major attacks one prior on the Consulate. This is what the Democrats concerns are. Plus Fienstein is not the only one.

Yet the left keeps talking about how this was politicized with the election. Notice Lefties.....Fienstein says otherwise. So also note this meeting coming up is only the inquiry as she has alluded to the fact that there will be Senate Hearings on Benghazi. Another misnomer by the left that it was just Republicans pushing the issue.

Yep, here they are with Petraeus.....althought the one is a lil heavier than the other they are almost identical.

Homeboy gettin' his freak on. Good for him.

I still think something is missing from the story. There is too much room for intrigue. There is a spy somewhere!
