Papa John's CEO: Obamacare likely to raise costs, employee's hours being cut [W:387]

It's better to do it federally, not state by state.

State rights have been eroded to the point where they'll eventually have to band together and fight back somehow. Direct democracy is being lost to a out of control federal government and it can only be regained if the States can get regain the power they once had.

Yes indeed.
"Give"... is the operative word. So nicely cloaked... but what is this "giving" you speak about?
It's Para-sita-claus.

To give something at the government level means forcing the government to take (from a host).

What is the government giving the Papa John's employees? Medicaid for those not making enough to pay for emergency health care.

Defending Parasite Nation means you are a supporter of Parasite Nation.
You may not like it... but tough darts.

It's hard to take this GOP talking point seriously when you consider how they fight for billions in Keynesian spending and stimulus to military contractors.

Corporate farms, energy companies, and military companies all have their hands out and expect favorable treatment.

Also, during the election, a popular GOP scare tactic was misconstruing the ACA cuts to medicare. This played on senior citizens expectation of the government subsidized health care from the day they retire until death. The majority will receive more from medicare than they put in, especially in the last few months of life. People are living longer and these seniors (many who voted for Romney) expect to have the government partially or entirely pay for prescription meds that offset a lifetime of bad dietary and exercise habits, thus making them live longer and end up taking more from the fund.

A parasite lives off a host... off another... until the host is dead.

So, according to that logic, the biggest "parasites" are seniors who are in the last year of their lives and military contractors. Because that's where the bulk of the federal tax revenue goes. With Veterans and government employees coming in a distant third. Maybe congressmen and their staff should pay for their own health insurance since we're paying then 10 times what an hourly employee at Papa John's makes?

Pay for your own. And to those who say the company should pay for it... don't be stupid... you are paying for it.

The full-time assistant manager CAN NOT afford a comprehensive health insurance plan with regular checkups and still have enough to pay her rent and buy gas to get to work, so she will use Medicaid when she gets seriously sick or pregnant.

Keep in mind, we're not talking about the part-time teenage delivery people or cooks, they're covered under their parents health insurance. This Papa John's CEO is complaining about having to cover his mid-level management and local managers. Didn't Jesus say something about an eye of a needle or 14 cents extra a pie?

I suspect once the dust settles, most businesses will quit bitchin' and simply offer it.

Papa John's CEO: My Obamacare claims were twisted - Political Eye - CBS News

"Many in the media reported that I said Papa John's is going to close stores and cut jobs because of Obamacare," he wrote in the Huffington Post. "I never said that. The fact is we are going to open over hundreds of stores this year and next and increase employment by over 5,000 jobs worldwide. And, we have no plans to cut team hours as a result of the Affordable Care Act."

papa-johns-schnatter-says-he-will-honor-obamacare-and-give-health-insurance-to-all-employees/

"Papa John’s, like most businesses, is still researching what the Affordable Care Act means to our operations. Regardless of the conclusion of our analysis, we will honor this law, as we do all laws, and continue to offer 100% of Papa John’s corporate employees and workers in company-owned stores health insurance as we have since the company was founded in 1984.”

John Schnatter, the CEO of Papa John's Pizza, has this to say about the matter:

This is the auto industry lie again from the FOX News spin machine (remember the Chrysler shipping jobs to China lie?), this time retooled for pizza. When the hell is FOX News going to, for once, start acting like a legitimate news organization, and stop making stuff up?

About the time the sun expands into a red giant and obliterated the planet.

As there are many commentators on Fox News do you have any idea who might have made these remarks?

Odd, but the OP linked to a local NBC channel.

I've known dan for many years now... he's not a liberal. You are making the mistake that if someone isn't just like you then they are the opposite of you... which is an unfortunate error on your part.

I will to that when you change YOUR lean to the truth, and type in Stalinist. LOL.

How can I be a Stalinist when I reject what you so clearly would like to see in a statist kind of way?

Oh, ok...Well why would I think any different after such a rousing witness. Pardon me if the liberal saying that the poser is not a conservative is NOT actually a conservative offends you.

Im late on this but according to CNN the cost increase per pizza would have been 15 cents. Thats a real deall breaker for a guy with a private lake and golf course. Hes just playing the game cause hes a sore looser.

WAHHH I didn't get my way. I'll show you boy.

Why not, it's his business... IF that is truly the case then in the end he would pay a price for it....However, if he is not the only one, and he is not, that has to pair back on expenses because of this administration, then I would say the problem is not his, but Obama's.

If you being wrong offended me I'd apparently be forever offended nonstop.

Honestly I don't care! Lib, con, so called "moderate" "other" or what ever....If he want's to raise the cost of a pizza by 3 cents, or 15 cents isn't going to make one bit of difference to the super bowl party when they place the call....And only if people get mad at his political statement might affect something, but there are 50% that agree with him....Never forget that.

So, an additional cost no one cares about is bad if it covers employee health care? Is that the argument?
