This is childish, stupid and undignified. Why protest the fair democratic protest, why be throwing around slurs like that, this is nonsensical.

What we have here is a person not living in the US posting up a thread so he can judge the South. That's the point of this thread, nothing more. No comment about the protest, just about that it happened in Mississippi. If it had happened in Massachussett, no thread at all.

But what a surprise... it didn't happen in Massachusetts. Once again, a racism story comes out and it's in the South. The same place that up until 50 years ago still was lynching like it was 1886.

What is the objection here? Those students have just as much right to protest as anyone else about anything they want.

they ran the state in the early to mid 1920s. the D.C. Stephenson scandal brought them down, including the governor and mayor of Indianapolis. that was the low point of Indiana history. the klan was effectively neutered at the state level, but it hung around under the radar until the late 1980s / early 1990s. there might still be some small pockets, but they are so marginalized that people don't even speak of them privately. the climate has really changed for the better just in my lifetime.

not all Indiana history is racist, though. i've visited some houses that were part of the underground railroad, and there were many people with their hearts in the right place. it should also be noted that many citizens fought the klan tooth and nail, and continue to spray the pesticide that keeps those bigoted cockroaches hiding under rocks to this day.

I find it odd a European would post this as the EU is a pretty openly racist continent. Sport clubs and leagues tolerate it. Just read the papers about the latest soccer matches in Italy, Germany, Sweden... and it's why FIFA has a campaign... Say No to Racism... because it is a problem.

This isn't to condone what happened in MS., not by a long shot... just odd coming from the OP...

I'm not speaking down their freedom of expression, I'm saying their idiots for protesting a free and fair election by yelling racial slurs. They do indeed have the right to do it, but it doesn't negate the fact that they are indeed idiots.
