Is it just me, or is it kind of disturbing that not one conservative can step up and say "that's ****ed up" or "using a racial slur was wrong, even if it was only one person."

I spent some time in Mississippi and found, in my brief experience, and with some mild surprise as well, that there were fewer friendlier places anywhere, and both Black and White got along very well. My experience, apart from attending university there, was similar to that of Brizzo86.

Anyone interested in hypocrisy only need google 'race riots in Europe'.

Doesn't it speak for itself that racial slurs are wrong? Is it necessary for leftists to consistently claim that incest or rape is wrong or they will otherwise be giving their tacit approval of these acts?

SMB, my good sir. What points did you even make? You suggested that Ole Miss is full of a bunch of racists. You suggested that how dare people stand around and ... I don't know what you expected fellow students to do? Fight the protesters? They called the cops and dispersed them? Racism is dying. It is not nearly as bad as you think it is. Of course there are still racists, and for years there will be some. But if you really think that white people just huddle around the baby when it's born and say "How can we make him hate others who aren't like him?" I mean is that what you think? Dude people in Mississippi are awesome and very open minded. People at Ole Miss are some of the best in the nation. South Korean's Pakistani's etc etc. Really neat campus, really loving people. I'm sorry you can't grasp this.

Good for you. I never said that there weren't nice people in Mississippi. Please learn some reading comprehension and context. I never stated that racism does not exist outside the south. Please learn some reading comprehension and context. I never stated the US has a lock on racism. Please learn some reading comprehension and context.

I didn't suggest that people were just standing around you did. My point is that racism is a lot worse than most conservatives portray it to be and it is institutional in the United States. My further point was that the reason this is significant and the reason this is news worthy is the history of violent racism on the campus of Ole Miss. You tell me how awesome the people at Ole Miss are. I am saying that doesn't matter. The place has a well known history of violent racism. The first black President is re-elected and they have violent protest, regardless of how small, that is racially based and you say how horrible it is that the press and other people think this is news worthy?? What planet are you from. Of course it is news worthy.

You ask me what the other people on campus were supposed to do? I can tell you in the late '80's when neo-Nazism was on the rise in the US the Aryan Nation decided it would be cool to hold its national convention at ground 0 of American liberalism in the San Francisco Bay area. They were to have a 3 day weekend full of whatever it is neo-Nazis due. I was stationed in the Bay area at the time. Friday night about 3 times as many people showed up at the park to protest the neo-Nazis then showed up for the convention. They even hired a airplane with banner that stated "Hitler was a wienie." By Saturday midday the ratio between protestors to attendees grew to about 10-1.
By Saturday evening the rest of the festivities for Sunday and Monday were cancelled and the neo-Nazis left. That is what could have happened at Ole Miss but did not.

I read fine and yes it was in direct response to your post i.e. why the quote. You stated in response to one of my post that Mississippi was one of the most friendliest placed you have ever been. Since this was in direct response to one of my post the suggestion is clear that you thought I had something against Mississippi. Something I never stated or intoned. Your post when on to suggest that racism exists not only outside the South but outside the US. Since this was in direct response to my post this intones that somehow I proposed that it wasn't. Either you derived points from my post that are non-existant or you quoted my post in direct response in error. Either way my previous post was meant to correct your mistake or misinterpretations of my post that you directly responded to previously.
