Gay marriage is approved by popular vote in Maine, Maryland

1. One less thing the federal government has to get involved with.

2. Wedding / Catering business is stimulative.

3. Gay couples can adopt children, getting them out of state run foster systems.

4. Same-sex marriage will do away with the overly complicated and legalistic civil unions and expedite all kinds of basic property, health, and tax issues for gay couples.

5. Since the divorce rate among same-sex couples is lower, opposite-sex couples will have more roll models for lifelong commitment.

6. Love and tolerance are Judeo-Christian values.

7. Legalizing gay marriage will foster more acceptance of LGBT sexual orientation in all areas of public life which means less discrimination.

So, yeah, gay marriage is great for our country.
 
Just saying, I see a huge amoutn of slippery slope arguments here, about marriage between those who are related, "full-blown socialism", and such. This is about same-sex marriage, nothing else. I for one am in favor of gay marriage, but those awho are against, shoudl not worry: same-sex marriage is very rare even in places where it's legal (eg. t he Netherlands).

This is typical of SSM discussions. Since it is hard to argue against SSM on the merits, you throw in incest and bestiality.

That's a bit melodramatic, isn't it? It's not like anybody is going to gay marry at you. You're much more in danger from petty HOA rules than gay marriage.

Well not all gay people think the same so its impossible to really answer that question. But iif your talking about the pro SSM movement then I would say that they want same sex couples to be able to receive the same benefits and sign the same contract and enter into the same institution as opposite sex couples. In other words equality under the law.

I have no issue with gay marriage but respect those who do for religious reasons.

When you understand that differences between plural marriage and gay marriage and how the former does not apply to an argument for the latter, let us know.

Tell us again how repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell will lead to a mass exodus from the military and how Washington state will never approve same sex marriage at the ballot box.

How much you wanna bet on DOMA when it has already been struck down by several appeals courts and the Supreme Court is set to hear arguments on it next session?
