U.S. Offers New Details Of Deadly Libya Attack

It is not their job to protect everyone in the world. It is only their job to protect Americans. Doesn't your source know that?

My point is that 80 people working in the Embassy died. It doesn't matter if they were not Americans. They should be treated with the same respect, they are humans. It is our responsibility to look after everyone working in each Embassy. If we are going to throw that responsibility out of the window, then we need to pull our a**es out of every country we are in. I think we should do that anyway since the world didn't ask us to police the world. We can't even run our country right, so we shouldn't meddle in foreign affairs either.

Leon Panetta claimed that support wasn't sent, because it was, "dangerous". Now, the claim is that supporting forces were too far away.

What's next weeks lie going to be?

It's Bush's fault.

It's not the foreign lives don't count, so don't be mischievous and try to lay some guilt on me, it's just that foreign Embassies are staffed mostly by foreigners. The dangerous and difficult situation in Libya was well known and the American Embassy, like the British Embassy and the Red Cross offices, should have been evacuated.

According to your own article, only 5 embassy employees died in the incidents listed. One listed 6 injured, but does not clarify if they were employees or visitors and one local guard dying. Where do you get 80 people working in the Embassy died?

Respect is earned, not given. Common courtesy should exist, common respect is an unsupportable myth. In some of the cases, some of the dead were the attackers or part of them, for them I have absolutely no respect. If they want respect, let them put on a uniform, form actual fighting units and meet us honorably on a field of battle instead of acting like murderous criminals.

Having an embassy someplace is not us attempting to "meddle in foreign affairs". We have embassies in every country that we politically recognize, and they have embassies and consulates here. Even ones we don't recognize have UN embassies in New York. None of which are established or maintained for military purposes.

The head of security was a Yemeni.. and its very likely he was killed by al Houthis, not AQ.

Libyan Leaks: More Secret Documents Reveal Obama’s failure in Libya

Barack Obama’s claim to election fame – that Al-Qaeda has been destroyed – needs a reality check, according to a group of anti-Al Qaeda Libyans in exile. “We beg to differ,” they exclaimed. “Obama gift-wrapped Libya, handed it over to Al-Qaeda, and we can prove it.”

The group stated they have come into possession of some highly classified documents that in their view, “will bring the Obama Administration down.” They were not bluffing; they provided the first installments of official classified documents which we provided in some of our previous reporting. “The rest,” they say, “will be provided when Mitt Romney is in office. His election is our only hope for humanity,” they said.

These documents include evidence of highly sophisticated weaponry provided to jihadists which leads them to doubt that any solutions will take place under what they called “The Obama regime”.

We have come into the possession of an array of records obtained from top-level sources inside the Libyan government. They include passports of Al-Qaeda operatives and identifications of terrorists from many nations—Chad, Egypt and Pakistan to name a few—which are now all camped in Libya as they enter by crossing borders guarded and managed officially by what they called “government appointed Al-Qaeda leaders.”

You mean this walid shoebat?:

from wiki:
Critics such as Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for Council on American-Islamic Relations have questioned Shoebat's background story, along with others like him, saying they "belong to an 'industry' that is often perpetuated by fundamentalist Christians" and aren't former Muslim terrorists.[5]

Skeptics [11] have also questioned why Shoebat has been able to retain his US citizenship if it is true that he was involved in acts of terror.[5]

The Jerusalem Post states that Shoebat has profited from his story that he was formerly a Muslim terrorist, but has rejected Islam for Christianity.[4] When the Post asked Shoebat whether the Walid Shoebat Foundation is a registered charity, he said that it was registered in Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania State Attorney's office said it had no record of such a charity. When asked again, Shoebat claimed it was registered under a different name, but that he was not aware of the Foundation's registered name, nor any other details, which were known only to his manager. Dr. Joel Fishman of the Allegany County Law Library in Pennsylvania expressed doubts about Walid Shoebat Foundation's donation process. He noted that if the money were being given to a registered charity, the charity would have to make annual reports to the state and federal government.[4]

On July 13, 2011, CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360" reported an investigative piece into Walid Shoebat's claim to authority based on being a former terrorist. The report found that according to Israeli government officials, the bank that Walid Shoebat claimed to have attacked, and his own relatives, no record of his supposed terrorist history existed. A two-week prison term in an Israeli jail, another of Shoebat's claims was also unsubstantiated, with Israel having no record he was ever jailed. His cousin, interviewed in the report, stated that he had never known Shoebat to have ties to any movement, and that his claims of being a former terrorist were "for his own personal reasons".[2]

Concerning his time in jail which CNN reported it could not confirm, Shoebat wrote:

2) Even if Mr. Griffin did check prison records, he was searching the wrong name. Had CNN examined our records that were offered to them, it will prove beyond doubt that Mr. Griffin made an error. When Mr. Shoebat was arrested he turned in his U.S. passport and not his birth certificate or I.D. card. His U.S. passport had a different last name.

I just did a quick count of people who died during Embassy attacks. I'm sorry if I didn't take the time to get as specific as possible. I was trying to make a point.

As far as meddling in foreign affairs, having a military bases in other countries is meddling in my book. If we are going to be allowed to be stationed throughout the world, we should allow other countries to establish military bases here in the US. What's fair is fair. Exactly who is policing us while we are policing the world? Just because we have the UN headquartered here doesn't mean we are being policed effectively.

I think the US needs to focus on the US. We need to stop worrying about what is going on in the rest of the world and fix our country. We have our hands involved in too many places and we don't have a free hand to wipe our a**es. We've got a crust growing and the world can smell it. We need to take a break from what we are doing, clean ourselves up, then maybe we can go back to doing what we are doing with the world.

The US is failing as bad domestically as much as it is failing in its foreign policies. It's decline is more rapid than Rome's or Great Britain's and will accelerate under the leaderhip of Barrack Obama and his Czars.

According to this, they tried sending in troops, but there were no troops close enough to get there in time.

Is not using the super secret CIA time machine an impeachable offense?

(Normally, I don't like using NPR as a source here because it will be attacked. However, since the Daily Caller and WND are being used by the right these days....)

One thing this proves, obama knew from the very beginning this was a terror attack so if nothing else he is a liar.

Well it's always been know he was a liar which can fall under the usual response by the left as "all politicians lie".

But the difference between Barrack Obama and most other politicians is that he is an extremely dangerous liar.

Which is why we must replace Obama's czars with Romney's. Yeah, that's the answer :lamo

Nope, bases are not meddling in others affairs, for the most part. We have treaties like NATO and Joint Defense Treaties in a lot of areas and like in South Korea, the bases are necessary to fulfill our joint commitment. We have bases in Japan primarily because at the end of WWII, we severely limited their military and took a lot of defense for Japan upon ourselves and North Korea and formally the Soviet Union were a threat to them. A very large part of Japans military budget is to support US troops there. Germany, we pretty much did the same thing to and there is our NATO commitments. The Brits actually allow us to use their bases, we don't "own" them.

Any facility in the US whose primary mission is NORAD is jointly maned by the US and Canada. Many friendly nations send military contingents to the US for training and exercises. The Germans have permanent basing at an AF Base in New Mexico. I do not consider them as meddling in our affairs any more than I see our bases meddling in their affairs. After the 9/11 attacks, members of the NATO Airborne Early Warning contingent deployed to Oklahoma to aid us. The crews of their aircraft are maned by members from at least 12 different countries.

Japan, Germany and Italy are perhaps the only places, at the end of WWII, that we forced an basing upon and whom we have some say in their internal affairs. Even then it is dealing with compliance with treaties that ended WWII.

As to taking care of ourselves, we were in great shape at onetime, and imo, we screwed it up because of liberalism/socialism. Also, what makes you deserving of protection and rights that you have here over a person who was born elsewhere? Are we not all people? Do not all peoples deserve the same rights, freedoms and opportunities that exist in the US? Because a person was born in Iraq under Sodamed Insane, they deserved to be arrested tortured and killed but you don't deserve it because you were fortunate enough to born in the US instead? Rather selfish of you to think that only Americans deserve what we have and to protect it, we should just ignore and screw over the rest of the world for it.

What would be the point of another country putting a base in the U.S.?

For the same reason why we have bases in other countries. For example, what is wrong with allowing England set up a base in Alaska to help us keep the Russians off our soil? If we are truly allies with another country, then there should be no issue with them setting up a base on our soil. If we are based in other countries to help train their military and help them if another country attacks, then they should be over here helping us do the same. If this idea makes you uncomfortable, then you need to put yourself in the shoes of the citizens where we are based at.

None of that makes any sense. We don't need other countries to train our country, or protect us from attack.

There will be plenty after the Election should Obama win. Republicans wont let it go now and nor will others. Also We know Stevens met with the Turks Ambassador on the Street an Hour before. Also Don't forget Gaffney with the Washington Times that is coming at the issue thru the weapons tangent.
So despite the deflections by those on the left. It will be ongoing unless Obama loses. Then it might be forgotten.

As I recall, the US went through the American Revolution, where we gained our independence. France, Netherlands and Spain aided us in the war, which helped us win over Britain. They all provided us with arms until 1778, then France joined the war to help us win.

If the citizens of the countries we are in want the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities that we have, they need to fight for it themselves and they can ask for our help. It is not our responsibility to stay in their country and ensure they have those luxuries. We should let them revolt, provide them with arms if they need it and then step in if it looks like they are going to fail.

From that point, they should establish their own government and we should stay out of it. France didn't play a part in forming our government after helping us win the Revolution. They let us handle it. We need to respect what the citizens decide is best for their country when they decide to revolt.

None of that makes any sense. We don't need other countries to train our country, or protect us from attack.

And likewise, other countries don't need us to help them do that either. We've held everyone's hands long enough. Time to take off the training wheels and let them ride their own bike. They may fall a few times, but they will be ok.

If it wasn't for our international presence, the world would be a much sadder place.

An interesting clip from the UAE but leaves the questions as to why all those papers have not been cleaned up by American investigators and why the media arrived there first.

Can you describe what would involve 'falling a few times" and what the international consequences might be?

Can you describe what would involve 'falling a few times" and what the international consequences might be?

No, I can't describe what the international consequences would be. I really don't care either. We are living in the year 2012 (almost 2013). If other countries haven't learned how to be humane to each other, then let them duke it out. Why should we keep sacrificing our own money, resources, and people?
