Authorities say a North Texas pastor died after a man drove his car into the church and attacked the pastor with an electric guitar.

Dennis identified the pastor as the Rev. Danny Kirk, Sr. He said Kirk died at the scene.

Police used a Taser to detain the suspect, who was not identified. The suspect was found unresponsive shortly afterward and later was pronounced dead.

Seriously. Only in Texas.

I wonder if he was still holding the guitar when the police used the taser on him? If he was, did it turn him into an amplifier?

I feel bad for the pastor. I guess rock 'n roll really does kill.

That sounds insane... and he died from a taser? So much for non-lethal.

I've always wondered what happens if you don;t release the trigger. I have a huge stun baton at home and I've promised myself that once they go down, I stop and call 911. But if they, say, had hurt a cat - I might keep firing until my battery died. Can you breathe when you get continuous shocks?

seems the initial assault was upon the janitor outside the church
only after that did the person drive his vehicle into the church and attack the pastor in the music room

Its not a trigger issue. The Taser C2 that most police use will not stop shocking your target for a full minute. They're designed to incapacitate, and then you drop it and run leaving the target incapped for a minute. Taser will then send you another.

Apparently some people don't get fazed by the tazor especially if they are crazy or strung out or both. Not sure why.

Interesting. Thanks.

Forest Hill isn't a great area. Low income, high crime.

More good info. I don't expect to confront a crazy person, just a burglar so hopefully it will work. I've only had one occasion to use it and the guy ran like hell when the thing sparked and popped.

Drugs are a hell of a drug.

Yes, tasers and "stun guns" can cause a person to stop breathing.

Good for me to know, just in case I need to make the wprld a better place someday....:)

Ah, but I don't have a 12 gauge but I do have a stun baton. We must work with the tools we have.
:)

Dude ya live in vegas next to several gun stores that advertise machine guns. I think a nice Thompson with a 50 round drum will be perfect. Much better than your stun batton and you get the added plus of keeping it in a violin case.:) Splurge live a little. Theres nothing like letting a Tommie gun rip. Besides the burglers will think you are part of the Mob and run like hell.

First, I absolutely do not trust myself to own a lethal weapon. I constantly come across people that deserve to be shot and I can only afford so much ammo. Secondly, despite my diplomatic immunity as the Martian Ambassador, I find the complexities of your legal system on this remote, water-logged planet to be too challenging to want to engage.

Some days, I really wish they would recall me.

I gotcha, but about 200 bucks gets you a Mossberg pump. Just something to consider.

I need now run down to Walmart and get some more desicant to help keep my home dry, definately too much water here. Cheers
