CIA operators were denied request for help during Benghazi attack, sources say

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

The OP is the dumbest ****ing post I've read in a long time, and that's saying a lot. Any of you who have any sense know damn well that there is far too much information that is unknown. Anyone with military experience is completely stupid to believe that all things are known by those who were not involved with a need to know. No way, no how. I call triple bull****.

I don't propose to know what is true. I do know that MUCH of what was reported to have occurred in Vietnam in the early days was well mastered bull****. Even the White House was duped. We have NO idea as to who is telling what to whom and why and most of y'all are just bending over and asking for more. Now is different how?

Think people!

According to other intelligence, we know that officials were informed at some point after the attack that the ambassador and others had holed themselves up in a panic room, built to withstand just this type of assault, with food to last for days. As it turns out, the ventilation system in the room was poor, and they died of smoke inhalation. But if officials thought Stevens and the others were safe in a panic room, it would make sense to wait and not jeopardize the lives of more people.

That's much too reasonable of an explanation for what went down, especially for this thread. I'm going to ignore it and chose to exclusively watch Fox news, believing that Obama caused the death of Chris Stevens because he had a copy of O-boy's Islamic Kenyan birth certificate.

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

Just the use of the safe room should have been reason enough to send in the troops without having to be asked!
BTW: do you have a link for that?

Fox has been reporting it pretty steadily since it broke and WaPo finally did a story on it today too. I'll see what I can find that will add to the story. There is this:

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

this is why conservatives are not taken seriously. You guys think you know the truth when in fact, you are really hoping that you do.

so sad.

This is why libs are not taken seriously, deny, deny, deny and then when you can deny no longer say "so what".

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

Its quite damning, I wonder what possible reason the decision maker in this case had for not sending in help.

Whether there was a decision to not send help or not, why did they not even shell or missile target the mortar that was shelling the compound. It was laser painted and a sure thing. This had to be a political thing. How could it not be?

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

Perhaps the "real media" is waiting for answers instead of salivating and pointing fingers prematurely.

You mean like with Watergate?

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

Well, the truth came out after that investigation.

The truth came out because Monica saved the dress with the DNA evidence. The Clinton operatives almost gagged in mid-sentence when she said that. It was hysterical.

Your avatar looks like I imagine Obama looked when they asked him for a decision on this issue before he took off for "Vegas, Baby!"

ughhh! another conservative that claims to be an "independent"

why not just label yourself a conservative and be done with it? Ohhh, that's right, it's too embarrassing to be called or be associated with conservatives these days.

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

Certainly it's the good life for you down there in Southern California, but in many remaining parts of the United States, this is something you wouldn't want to get caught attacking and ridiculing Americans about. I understand it's easy to get caught up in and feel pretty cute in your flippant liberal nonsense, might be best for you to just remain silent in a foreign culture this time. Realize you're a guest and always will be, don't dirty the house up.

and again:
this is why conservatives are not taken seriously

why not wait until all of the facts are out? Are you that impatient? Everyone online likes to play judge with a sentence. christ! some of you are lame.

If we had left it to the Administration to get the facts out, we would still be hearing that the attack on our Benghazi consulate was a spontaneous protest in response to an offensive video. As was the attack on our embassy in Tunisia. It was responsible journalism that forced the adinistration to finally.....after days and days and days of giving us false information....to admit that it was a planned and orchestrated terrorist attack and they had known that from the beginning.

Why are you not angry with the administration for not 'waiting to get the facts out' before feeding us a blatant lie?

Why are you not angry with the administration for not being ready to go to the aid of personnel stationed in dangerous places?

Either Obama and his spokespersons knew the truth from the beginning and buried it--not acceptable--or they are allowing and accepting blatant lies from their own Administration--not acceptable--and are not on top of what is going on under their very noses--not acceptable.

There is no way that Obama can put lipstick on this pig.

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

The source of the leaks exposing the extreme lies, diversions and knowledge the Whitehouse had, plus minute to minute details, knowledge there are emails, radio transmissions and two Predators filming it all is leaks by the CIA - which openly defined orders to "stand down" - not just the Navy Seal there but the Special Ops team in Italy.

When one of the commanders on one of the aircraft carriers offshore (you know, one of those ships that airplanes can land on as Obama snidely said in the debate) was asked if there was any record or defensive response they could have undertaken, his answer was "ABSOLUTELY" - but that he could not receive authorization - FOR SEVEN HOURS!

It seems clear that Obama knew and was in communications with the Situation Room within the first hour - and that his singular thought was struggling with "what are the various political implications of decisions I might make?" - making no decisions at all as a Special Ops Seal Team was radioing that they had a targeting laser on the mortarr site begging it be taken out. Hour after hour Obama ordered nothing be done at all.

The, relying on a total cover-up, declared it just a riot that went too far and blamed in on some unheard of video - not figuring the CIA would turn on him for the president letting their men die - nor counting on the Navy getting very pissed off about this too.

They died because the president's only concern was his personal political goals and relying on a cover-up.

Absolutely.

I also wonder if the reported 'lull' between the two separate attacks may have confused the issue.

(Do we actually have ships that PLANES can land on?!!!)

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

With all the information that has come out about this in the past few days it looks like these brave men that serve our country were "expendable" in the eyes of the Dear Leader O'blunder who could have save them but apparently felt they were expendable cause O'blunders re-election is more important than American lifes, at least in the eyes of O'blunder, his administration and the legions of blind followers that would attempt to make O'blunder a dear leader for 4 more years.

This President killed those brave Americans when he refused to send them help most likely because it could have turned into a much bigger deal with more casulties and the regime didnt want any bad press coverage before the election so they tryed to bury it with the Movie story. Too bad for them there excuse (the film) was so lame that only a complete nitwit would believe it and at least half the American people are much smarter than that.

If this President doesnt lose in the election then he should be impeached for his actions in this which in my opinion is far worse than Watergate ever was.

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

I find this news more troubling than the stupid debate over who said what when following the tragedy.

But I think it's a little early to judge on this one.

The article notes that this group of operatives was very small (it would be helpful, FOXNews, to give an exact number...).

The room itself wasn't secure. If it was, then how did they get to Stevens' body to carry it through the street the way they did. All things indicate that ground troups were needed to assist.

Libyan witnesses recount organized Benghazi attack
By PAUL SCHEMM and MAGGIE MICHAEL
Associated Press

TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) -- It began around nightfall on Sept. 11 with around 150 bearded gunmen, some wearing the Afghan-style tunics favored by Islamic militants, sealing off the streets leading to the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. They set up roadblocks with pick-up trucks mounted with heavy machine guns, according to witnesses.

The trucks bore the logo of Ansar al-Shariah, a powerful local group of Islamist militants who worked with the municipal government to manage security in Benghazi, the main city in eastern Libya and birthplace of the uprising last year that ousted Moammar Gadhafi after a 42-year dictatorship.

There was no sign of a spontaneous protest against an American-made movie denigrating Islam's Prophet Muhammad. But a lawyer passing by the scene said he saw the militants gathering around 20 youths from nearby to chant against the film. Within an hour or so, the assault began, guns blazing as the militants blasted into the compound.

...The Obama administration has sent out muddled messages whether it was a planned attack or a mob protest that got out of control. A day after the attack, President Barack Obama referred to "acts of terror." He told CBS' "60 Minutes" in an interview aired the following Sunday that he believed those involved "were looking to target Americans from the start."

Within 24 hours of the attack, both the embassy in Tripoli and the CIA station chief sent word to Washington that it was a planned militant attack. Still, days later, the U.S. ambassador to the U.N., Susan Rice, said the attack began as a spontaneous protest over the film.

...Ansar al-Shariah, the group whose members are suspected in the attack, is made up of militants with an al-Qaida-like ideology, but it is not clear whether it has any true ties to the terror organization. Made up mainly of veterans of last year's civil war, it is one of the many powerful, heavily armed militias that operate freely in Libya and in Benghazi, while government control remains weak. Some Benghazi officials have praised Ansar al-Shariah for helping keep order in the city, even as they note its jihadi ideology.

With its arsenal of weapons, the group is capable of carrying out such an attack on the consulate on its own and even on relatively short notice. Islamist militias in Benghazi had in previous months threatened to attack the compound.

...Yasser el-Sirri, a former Egyptian militant who runs the Islamic Observation Center in London closely tracking jihadi groups, said the attack "had nothing to do with the film but it was a coincidence that served the (militants') purpose."He believes the ambassador was the target and the attackers may have been inspired by an al-Qaida call to avenge the death of a top Libyan jihadist on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States in 2001. But he offered no firm evidence that was the motive.

It won't happen. This week the media will be focused on Frankenstorm and next week on the election. They are going to keep this in their pocket until after the election. It will give them a lot more airtime stories if Obama is re-elected than if he loses.

FOX is dragging the rest of the media into reporting this but it is a trickle and most of them will stonewall this until after the election.

I think it's out there enough.

The MSM ignoring it will drive up Romney's turnout.

Another example of 'Enough is enough'.

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

Didn't anyone bother to read the linked page in the OP? Evidently not because there is a time line in that article that does not agree with the claims about help being denied.

A motorcade of dozens of Libyan vehicles, some mounted with 50 caliber machine guns, belonging to the February 17th Brigades, a Libyan militia which is friendly to the U.S., finally showed up at the CIA annex at approximately 3 a.m. An American Quick Reaction Force sent from Tripoli had arrived at the Benghazi airport at 2 a.m. (four hours after the initial attack on the consulate) and was delayed for 45 minutes at the airport because they could not at first get transportation, allegedly due to confusion among Libyan militias who were supposed to escort them to the annex, according to Benghazi sources.

Tyrone Woods and fellow former Navy SEAL Glen Doherty were killed by a mortar shell at 4 AM! At least one hour after military assistance had arrived in Benghazi.

Also, the photos of the Libyans "dragging the Ambassador's body thru the streets" have been deliberately mis interpreted by the Obama haters. Never, ever believe a word that issues from the orifices of Rush Limbaugh: Libyans didn’t aid ambassador

Video Shows Libyans Retrieving Envoy’s Body

The witnesses said residents drawn to the scene had forced open the window and found Mr. Stevens behind a locked iron gate, pulled him out and taken him to the hospital. In the video, none say anything that shows ill will.

“I swear, he’s dead,” one Libyan says, peering in.

“Bring him out, man! Bring him out,” another says.

“The man is alive. Move out of the way,” others shout. “Just bring him out, man.”

“Move, move, he is still alive!”

“Alive, Alive! God is great,” the crowd erupts, while someone calls to bring Mr. Stevens to a car.

Mr. Stevens was taken to a hospital, where a doctor tried to revive him, but said he was all but dead on arrival.

Re: The CIA Refused Requested Helpin Bhengazi?

It now appears that the Administration has relieved General Ham of his duties. Was this because he presumed to rescue the consulate staff when they first called for help after he had been ordered to stand down? The timing of his replacement doesn't meet the smell test does it.

Obama to nominate Army Gen. Rodriguez to lead AFRICOM - News - Stripes

If only there had been no surviving witnesses to testify (and the reason there are is due to two brave former Navy seals who gave their lives to save their countrymen.) If only there had been time to suppress those e-mails.

Would we still be believing the administration's story that the attack was a spontaneous angry mob reacting to an offensive video?

Apparently CIA officers defied orders to stand down and helped rescue people in the CIA annex, this could have been alot worse if these guys hadn't looked at each other and said go to hell obama. They also called in saying they had the mortar position laser painted and to send bombers, request denied. This is getting worse every day as more facts come out.

Former Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty were part of a small team who were at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. Consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When they heard the shots fired, they radioed to inform their higher-ups to tell them what they were hearing. They were told to "stand down," according to sources familiar with the exchange. An hour later, they called again to headquarters and were again told to "stand down."
