'Frankenstorm' Headed to Region

Looks like Atlantic City, NJ is getting hosed pretty good with this one. Shame.

One of the few times the House loses, so not a shame!!!

Man, they didn't even cancel work for this!

Really nothing going on here yet except some occasional wind gusts, but supposedly the worst is going to be late this afternoon and this evening in my area.

Theres people that live and work there besides the casinos

Well, yeah. However, America gets pounded by tornadoes and such almost on a daily basis. People die, towns are wiped out. What's the big deal this time?
You don't have cities under sea level in the area now, do you?

What's the big deal?? That sounds like a pretty big deal to me.

Well, I suppose because there is the slight possibility that it could be me or someone I know? That kind of makes it a big deal to me.

FEMA trailers on the boardwalk. Problem solved. Good enough for Red States--Good enough for Blue States :2dance:

You're right, this is no fun. I'm sorry. :3oops:

I wish good luck.

Most concern is over the high tide and storm surges. I'm pretty far from the coast, so I'm not worried about that in my area. Usually the storms are wimpy by the time they get here, but they keep saying how much different this one is and how big it is on the news, and I've already gotten two phone calls from my town about evacuation procedures if necessary and shelter information, so that tends to make you just a LITTLE nervous.

best wishes to all who are in the path of this one. i hope that you are all safe.

Thank you for your concern. I just found out that my son's house in Stone Harbor, NJ is halfway under water, but he is safe. That is what matters.

I hope your family stays safe lpast, since I read on the other thread that they are also in the danger zone, and good luck to everyone else in the storm's path. Hopefully it's not as bad as they are making it sound.

I have a question:

Are you people off today and tomorrow? Are you working?

I took the day off today. I have paid time off that I have to use before the end of the year, but I am planning on working tomorrow if I don't lose power.

The shore is getting it and it will be worse tonite with high tide and a full moon.

Catastrophic hurricanes are biannual here. I'm talking about destroyers of cities and towns, where billions in property damage is accrued. I'm pretty sure the east coast will be alright.

Since you have no sense of humor and assume you are the only one who is getting this....ciao

Yeah, you folks are probably not going to see a whole lot of me from Monday on. I have to go into work for a couple hours tomorrow (Sunday), and then 3-4 hours on Monday morning. As of 5pm on Monday evening I go on a 5pm-7am schedule until the storm damage is totally dealt with.

For those who don't already know.... I work for the 3rd largest Gas/Electric Utility company in the USA and we're based in Central New England.

Thank you.

Good luck.

Stay safe, I know power workers and how dangerous your job can be.

Thank You...so far its not...but they always overstate to make people Pay Attention...Atlantic City is a barrier island and there are several all connected with ALOT of people living on them...and they are all at great risk for a hurricane.
