Re: 2016: Obama's America producer, Dinesh D'Souza, resigns presidency of King's Coll
I think I have figured out why the charge of "anti-colonialist" is being used by many on the right - including D'Souza.
First it comes from a basic ignorance of history. My saying the majority of those in the American right are ignorant of history is bolstered by their support of so many proposals that have been shown to be failures in the past, yet they continue to make the claim, "This time will be different"
Second, and I think this is the real reason: Before the American Revolution, there were the Thirteen Colonies, the people who lived in them were colonists - therefore, an "anti-colonialist" is someone who is against those early Americans. It is such a simple equation that it must be how many of those using the term are thinking. Nevermind the reality that those early Americans were quite anti-colonialist themselves, after all they did revolt against their colonial master.
On the matter of the Winston Churchill bust and the silliness perpetrated by the righties about how it showed Obama hated Winston Churchill and wanted his bust out of the White House because of that hatred (RenoCon- in the future provide links please - British Embassy Confirms Krauthammer Right, White House Wrong: Churchill Bust Returned in 2009 | Mediaite)
Yes, the White House press guy was wrong is speaking of the bust that had been loaned to President Bush, however, he was wrong because he thought the Churchill bust he saw everyday was the one in question. He had not been told that there were two Churchill busts as is noted in the quotes posted by RenoCon
Simply another example of a fake controversy being used by D'Souza to "prove" the President hated Churchill
