Fidel Castro Hired Nazi SS to Train Military, German Intel Documents Reveal

You really need to try harder if you're going to defend a Nazi war criminal.

I'm not defending a Nazi war criminal. I'm defending historical fact and the facts are, slaves didn't build V-2 rockets, nor were they forced to work in Von Braun's lab.

Let's not sacrifice historical accuracy in an attempt to be politically correct.

Your lack of knowledge of world war II is truly frightening. Where do you think the rockets were built? In the black forest by elves?

They weren't built with slave labor.

.This news would surprise the Liberals and Progressive that support and admire the Castroit regime, but it don’t surprise most Cubans. The released of German documents prove without a doubt the hire of Adolf Hitler's Waffen-SS officers and the efforts to hire German paratroopers and technicians.

Thankfully this would never ever happen in America. Our morals would never let us hire ex Nazis to work for the US government.

Certainly not all German soldiers followed this behavior, though the excuse of "just following orders" is rather pathetic, at least some German soldiers could have been unaware or deluded as to the wishes of Hitler?

It's not all that pathetic when you consider that following orders was 1) a big deal in the Wehrmacht and 2) it was a matter of self preservation, because summary executions were perfectly acceptable in the Wehrmacht and even moreso in the SS.

The Wehrmacht swore a blood oath to Hitler and were bound by their personal honor to stand by that oath. Their personal honor outweighed right and wrong.

Of course not "all" German soldiers were War Criminals but if you look at the psychology of the average German soldier you will see that their treatment of people in lands they occupied was barbaric. They considered anyone who wasn't German sub-human. Nazi Propaganda was very effective at dehumanizing people.

German soldiers committed the same atrocities in WW1. It didn't have as much to do with Nazi propaganda as it did the German culture in general.

although i dont normally agreed with wiggen, he is correct in this case of slave labor.

on the V2, and well as make rifles, and other forms of arms.

Where's the docs to prove it?

docs to prove it?

testimonials has been given many times, of the slave labor of the Reich.

Let's see them, then. So far, nothing has been posted that proves the contention that slaves actually assembled V-2 rockets.

I'm not sure what you are trying to argue against, the use of slave laborers are Peenemunde and other associated facilities, not to mention virtually all war industries of the Reich is extremely well documented.

The system of exploiting slave labor to assemble missiles began in 1943. It expanded dramatically after the August 1943 bombings of Peenemünde by the British Royal Air Force. The widespread destruction led the Nazi leadership and the missile staff to move underground and use forced labor. The chosen site was a mine/fuel depot near the town of Nordhausen in Thüringen. Slave laborers from the Buchenwald concentration camp came to extend the tunnels for an underground V–2 factory called Mittelwerk. The new concentration camp outside the tunnels was code named Dora and was later renamed Mittelbau. More than 60,000 prisoners were interred at Dora. Some of them built 6000 V–2 rockets between August 1943 and April 1945. They experienced squalid housing, starvation diets, and draconian discipline with frequent executions.

Dora and the V–2 - Historical Background

The most important V-2 production sites were the central plants, called Mittelwerk, in the southern Harz Mountains near Nordhausen, where an abandoned gypsum mine provided an underground cavern large enough to house extensive facilities in secrecy. Slave labor from Dora carved out an underground factory in the abandoned mine, which extended a mile into the hillside.

At the end of August 1943, the first skilled prisoners arrived from Buchenwald to form a new subcamp with the undercover name of "Dora". Foreign workers under the supervision of skilled German technicians assumed an increasing burden; at Mittelwerk, ninety percent of the 10,000 laborers were non-Germans. Officials estimate that from 1943 until 1945, 60,000 prisoners worked in these factories. Of these, 20,000 had died from various causes including starvation, fatigue and execution.

I'm arguing against the idea that slave labor was used to actually fabricate and assemble V-2 rockets and that slaves were forced to work in Von Bruan's R&D labs.

I don't buy it; doesn't make sense. Say what you want about the Nazis, but stupid they weren't.

The second link discusses the movement of thousands of skilled prisoners who worked under the supervision of German technicians to assemble V2's. I'm not sure how this doesn't make sense to you. There were plenty of machine workers, engineers, etc in German concentration camps and among the occupied peoples they ruled over.

Too many security issues.

Too many security issues.

Hm? What do you mean? What security issues? You have to worry about sabotage sure, but this was a necessary risk if you wanted to meet production quotas. Also, not to be rude, but this isn't really a debate, these things occurred. The Nazi's used a variety of manual, semi-skilled, and skilled slave labor from electrical technicians on down to ditch diggers. It's been cited for you in this thread, and there are entire books written about the mass use of slave labor for strategic industries I suggest the The Wages of Destruction: The Making and Breaking of the Nazi Economy by Adam Tooze which has an entire section on this if I can recall.

What Fidel Castro’s Nazi recruits says about the Left
PERDUE: What Fidel Castro's Nazi recruits says about the Left - Washington Times

By Jon B. Perdue
October 16, 2012

Though he appears to have taken a break from his writing, Fidel Castro utilized one of his last “Reflections” columns to commemorate “The 67th Anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Fascism.” In it, he offered congratulations to the Russian people, saying that, because the Soviets under Stalin had fought so hard to preserve Communism, they were able to “crush the invaders who wished to impose a thousand years of Nazism and holocaust on all humanity.”

The aging dictator has shown confusion in the past when applying the Nazi and holocaust labels. Two years earlier, he outraged many of the typically sympathetic members of the UN Human Rights Council meeting when he declared that the “Fuhrer’s swastika is today Israel’s banner,” adding: “The hatred felt by the state of Israel against the Palestinians is such that they would not hesitate to send the one and a half million men, women and children of that country to the crematoria where millions of Jews of all ages were exterminated by the Nazis.”
Very well reasoned essay. Hopefully this will finally open the eyes of those who do not want to see the true nature of this dictatorship and what it is capable of doing.

U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a Democrat, said this about Fidel Castro statement at the United Nations on June 14, 2010: “These aren't just the comments of some doddering anti-Semite who is losing his faculties. These malicious comments were officially distributed by Cuba's government. They should be seen as what they are -- an official position of the Cuban government and endorsement of hateful anti-Semitism.''

The Castro brothers are the guys who lashed out against the State of Israel, amoral and compulsory liars, Machiavelli’s characters. Of course they are full-fledged anti-Semite. Of the 15,000 Jews living in the island in 1959, only 1,200 remain. 92% left after the regime took away their business and properties, and banned all religions.

“No political event can be judged outside of the period and circumstances in which it took place....The anthem’s unforgettable notes to which millions of men and women defied death, and crushed the invaders in their attempt to impose a thousand years of Nazism and holocaust on all of humanity.”Fidel Castro reflection, “The 67th anniversary of the victory over Nazi fascism”, Granma, May 12, 2012

Fidel Castro's regime has many similarities to that of Hitler. In his youth, Castro admired Hitler and read Mein Kampf as a student at the university, where he carried around a copy as one of his favorite books.

Hitler failed attempted to obtain power in 1923 by the Beer Hall Putsch. Castro failed attempted to gain power in 1953 by the attack of the Moncada barracks. Both were arrested and used the trials to spread their ideas. Hitler was sentenced to 5 years in prison for treason, but service only eight months in very comfortable conditions. This gave him exposure to national attention. Castro was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but serving only 22 months in very easy conditions as the result of an amnesty granted by Batista. This gave him too exposure to national attention.

Castro statement at the Moncada trial in 1953, “Condemn me. It does not matter. History will absolve me”, imitated Hitler statement at the Beer Hall Putsch trial in 1924, “History will smile and tear up the motions of the state's attorney and the judgment of this court: for she finds us not guilty.” Another Castroit copy from the Nazi propaganda was the term “gusano” (worm) used against its opponents, as the term “würmer” was used against the Jews.

Others similarities are found in the repressive state apparatus. Castro’s G2 secret police built up by Gestapo ex Nazis working for the STASI. The Rapid Response Brigades, similar to the Nazi Einsatzgruppen (Special Task Force). The Castroit regime Military Intelligence Agency (SIM), equivalent to the Abwehr German Military Intelligence Service. Castro’s CDRs (Committees for the Defense of the Revolution), was copied from Hitler’s blockwarts (block wardens). According to Castro it is “a collective system of revolutionary vigilance”, which controls the neighborhood blocks, reporting on them regularly, checking up on the behavior of their residents. Hitler Youth and Castro’s Union of Pioneers believe in the need to indoctrinate their ideology in young people starting early at age six, and received military training at an early age. Almost all children have to belong to these organizations. Like Hitler SS special security force absolutely loyal to the Fuhrer, according to a report by the Soviet newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda, Castro, the Caribbean Fuhrer, has 9,700 loyal guards responsible for his personal security.

Both got rid of the democratic system with the objective of satisfying their desire for absolute power, eliminating freedom of speech, the press, the media, establishing despotic regimes. Both intervened abroad, Hitler in Austria, Czechoslovakia, Poland etc, and Castro in Congo, Angola, Ethiopia, Somalia, Nicaragua, Colombia, Bolivia, etc. They eliminated rivals and opposition who did not agree with their ideas, forcing them to leave the country, sending them to prison or executing them.
