Its been over 60 years since we tried killing eachother off so yeh I think that deserves an award! You trying being neighbours with France and Belgium without having the urge to smash them. ;)

Huh? I must have missed the last time the USA won the super bowl. I thought the New York Giants were the defending champs.

Relax dude. The peace prize is a joke, I'm just having fun. The peace and literature prizes are nothing but a forum for leftist Europeans to vent their ideologies.

Everybody knows that, so it's cool.

They gave the prize to Obama before he had even spent one day as president. That says everything we need to know, right there.

They should give it to Rachel Maddow next year.

The sheer arrogance exhibited in this thread is astounding. Despite all the facts to the contrary, everybody in this thread are whining about how the Europeans awarded themselves an award. Amazing. Yeah, I get all the idiocy of the Nobel prize nowadays, but the thread goes downhill even further. Despite what a good many posters see a good in misnaming the entire thread (as Pete pointed out, Norway is not in the EU yet people amazingly forgot this and keeps on lamenting how it's Euro-centric).
The Nobel Peace Prize is a joke. I get it. What I have a problem with is the pure hypocrisy of the posters here. Sure the Europeans gave themselves an award. The Americans don't? The Koreans don't? What country doesn't? All the posters here are acting like only that the Goddamned Europeans are doing it again.

They are the "world champions"... not much "world" when it comes to the sport of American football.

You're totally confused. You're thinking of the World Series (Baseball). Football has the Super Bowl - which has nothing to do with the world - it is mostly an American sport (as is baseball - but we have cool games - what can we say?).
