Your Government is blatantly lying to you. This is hilarious. Nothing that comes out of the mouth of the Obama Administration is the truth. Nothing. A murdered ambassador is dragged like a dead cat through the Libyan streets, and this same Government that trotted out Susan Rice on the Sunday talk shows and lied about it for more than a week wants you to believe Unemployment went from 8.1% - 7.8% in one month and you believe them? That's basically over night. Half a %? Put down the Kool-Aid. This is pure propaganda. If you are not suspicious of this you're either

a) Obama Phone lady

b) Clueless

c) all of the above

There are so many gimmicks to patchwork this number down to 7.8% it's laughable. Let's go over a few:

1) A shrinking Labor Market. By killing jobs Obama is able to manipulate the numbers by not counting people he considers are no longer looking for work.

2) Apparently they were only able to get this number by doing "Household Surveys". They magically found 800K unicorn out of the blue last month using this same technique.

I mean seriously, has Hope and Change completely taken over people's ability to use Critical Thinking skills? I laughed my a%% off when I saw the headline this morning. This was predicted almost a year ago. GDP growth was revised DOWN 3 weeks ago to 1.3%. These job numbers are NOT POSSIBLE. It's called MATH.

Here is how the Obama Administration came up with the number

Employment Situation Summary Table A. Household data, seasonally adjusted

They used Household Surveys and magically came up with 873K new jobs that added to the "employment population"

That's the largest gain since Reagan when GDP was growing at 9.3%

Obama's GDP was just revised down to 1.3%

There are no trends that show any of today's data to be remotely true except the Administration consistent gimmicks to manipulate them, but this man speaking for the Obama Administration says it's 7.8% so it must be true!

Don't take my word for it. I think it is because earlier numbers were estimated too low. They added more jobs in August than previously thought.

Sept. numbers may not have been enough to move it down to 7.8%, but with the additional numbers from August, that may have done it.

Anyway around it, we're limping along. It's in the right direction though.

Under current circumstances, don't know anybody else would do better.

I don't see how it proves that. It shows that normally you reference the numbers when it strengthens your case but when it doesn't....the source is no longer valid. Seems to be reaaaalllly popular on the right. When something comes out you don't like you just ignore it and call it propaganda. Must be nice to live in an irrational world where the only "truth" is whatever validates your beliefs.

When the monthly employment rate climbs more than the birth rate entering the labor market that is positive. Anytime it is below that rate we are losing ground.

Here is another way to look at it, currently our employment numbers are down on average 5%. To get our employed up to 72% is a huge number of people that need jobs.

It is not my understand that the president sees these numbers well before anything, the day or evening before they are published is my understanding. If the numbers are available then why would they not purplish them?

All I can tell you is that several publications and/or op eds pieces I have read (like the Silexx Market Preview, for example) have stated that the POTUS sees the numbers well before they are released. And that he saw them before the debate.
