Hopefully they fired his ass.

As usual, the big winners are the lawyers...

Nice way to reward a criminal. Well done UC Davis.

You know what's criminal?

Pepper spraying non-threatening students who are sitting on the ground.

Would you rather they used my prefered technique to break up the demonstration; which would have included steel batons?

They didn't say how much of it the lawyers got, did they?

Lawyers got 250k. Cop that did the spraying got fired but won't face criminal charges.

I prefer that nothing you suggest ever make it into practice. Irrationality and hatred for freedom should have no play in our Republic.

Whereas I believe hatred for LAW & ORDER have no place in ANY civilization.

Of course you would, and you would likely categorize any dissent or distrust as "hatred" as well. You only prove my point.

Neither do idiots disrupting the education I PAY for. And not just out of my taxes, but right out of my pocket. I've attended UCD and the protesters then were a huge disruption. That's what the protesters are going for. They were told to disperse, they were creating a disturbance, they got sprayed. And now they get paid and are free to disrupt in the future.

Why would anyone pay to send their kids to such a place?

I know cause you totally couldn't have walked around or gone to class some other route, ignoring the whole of it the entire way.

Pike should face the same criminal charges I would if I sprayed someone in the face with pepper spray. He actions were not those of a police officer performing his duty, but merely an act of sadism meant to inflict suffering on some vulnerable targets. Police officers often are put in situations where determining a reasonable amount of force is difficult, but this case is not one of them.

We should ammend free speech so that "clownboy" no longer is even mildly disrupted by the practice of it. I say we start referendum on the subject.

Bull****. They weren't just blocking foot traffic. And the whole deal with protesters is to be loud enough to NOT be ignored. You've obviously never been trying to study when the protests are going on.

And what were they protesting? Anything that had anything at all to do with the school that others were trying to attend for an education? No of course not. About as useless on campus as a drum circle.

Not to up on the right of free speech there are ya? Try actually reading the Constitution. Perhaps if you weren't so distracted by the protesters at your school you'd have learned that you have the right to peaceable assembly (this has nothing to do with free speech rights).

Good thing law & order don't trump freedom of speech in all cases.

Last I checked the only violent act was the pepper spraying of protestors. It has everything to do with free speech. How on earth is restricting when and where you can protest not a limitation on speech? Nobody pays attention to a protest in your own backyard.

Pepper spraying hell. That was pepper HOSING.

You are entirely missing the point Clownboy. People protest in San Francisco all the time for plenty of stupid reasons and often do annoying things like blocking traffic. If they are too disruptive, they get arrested. None of that is the problem.

What is utterly unacceptable is pepper spraying a harmless group of individuals sitting on the ground. Inflicting physical violence upon another person is only legal as a defensive measure, not simply because you don't like the people in question.

And yet you disregard law and order when you see fit.

These were not some kids sitting there harmlessly. That should be clear. Several students were arrested and these kids were surrounding the officers to make them give up the students, stay forever, or commit violence. They were actively detaining officers to keep them from doing their job.

There were lots of heavily edited videos trying to make them look like they were just spraying for fun, but that simply isn't true. The full video shows the criminals breaking the law in multiple ways.

OK, then let's be fair about this. Please post the full video (as opposed to the "heavily edited video") so that we can decide for ourselves if this is true. Because it sure looked to me like the officer was leisurely walking down a line of students sitting on the ground and casually pepper spraying them. If I'm wrong about this and it was just some fancy video-editing, let's see your proof.

Lot of anti-first amendment folks around here.
