SANAA, Yemen (AP) — Chanting "death to America," hundreds of protesters angered by an anti-Islam film stormed the U.S. Embassy compound in Yemen's capital and burned the American flag on Thursday, the latest in a series of attacks on American diplomatic missions in the Middle East.

American missions have been attacked in three Arab nations — Yemen, Egypt and Libya — that have faced persistent unrest and are struggling to restore law and order after last year's revolts deposed their authoritarian regimes.....snip~

Do you think these 3 countries, plus Tunisia and Morocco, and now the protests in Iran. Chanting Death to America. Might have a take on the Way some Americans feel about the whole situation?

11 years on the Anniversary of 911 almost to the Day. 5 Countries just out of the clear blue all independantly decided to not only Protest the USA. But figure it's fine to yell out to the World. DEATH to America and now 3 more of our Flags Disgraced and upon our own Sovereignty.

Can you say this Admisitration's policy had anything moving in the Right Direction to sustain a working relationship with these countries?

They can chant anything they want, they ain't got the power to change it. Death to America? Bring it bitch! But they won't, this is as much of an outburst as we're likely to see.

Exactly on point with what you bring up. They can chant what they Want. Yet others are expected not to, and especially about their religion and God.

Do you think that one day soon.....they will figure out. They don't call Any shots and certainly don't have the Right to dictate to the rest of the World. What people will say about them.

Despite their intimidation of others.

Why hasnt the USA been bombing Saudi Arabia or Bahrain?

Each bomb is just another tax dollar in the pocket of the corporate giants - who are just loving these wars arent they

Too much money interest and oil interests tied up in the relationship with the Saudis. they got America by the sack and if we dare raise up so much as a empty bullet shell at them, we are finished.

Thank every President since the days of Eisenhour for the mess we are in now. all of them. Even Obama

Does anyone think Clinton's statement about.....Oh this is a small group. Reflects what we are seeing with all these Protests.

We bomb a lot of people, you think we can keep it straight?

Anyone who knows anything about Yemen over the past 60 years would get it.

You believe in karma?

NO.. Karma is pretty much meaningless. Yemen has always been lawless and dangerous... and despite efforts by the GCC to build universities and create jobs will probably remain so for the foreseeable future.

I am terribly annoyed as I have wanted to tour Yemen's ancient ruins for 2 decades.

Pffft, no. Karma is just wishful thinking for the oppressed.

NO.. Karma is pretty much meaningless.

Both wrong. Karma is about cause and effect. From the wikilink:

Any action is understood as creating "seeds" in the mind that will sprout into the appropriate (or inappropriate, my parenthesis) result (Pāli vipaka) when met with the right conditions.

Hence these protests are not just about a recent YT clip, but an upswelling of negative action caused by an entire history of conflicts between Americans and the Middle East, Christians, Jews and Moslems, religious and secular political forces and tribal and ethnic friction. The ideas behind karma see the interconnectedness and complexity of everything, how a D-grade movie in LA can have an impact on the behaviour of the Yemeni underclass. It in no way means that A causes B, which leads to C, but that wherever we are and whatever we do, we need to be aware of the consequences, however difficult to assess or tangential, of what we do and say.

So in other words the USA is not the land of the free?

Of the people, by the people, for the people?

all that stuff - all bull****?

Gee I am very dissapointed that the great US constitution can be purchased so cheaply

(although currently the US constitution and bill of rights is legally suspended due to various fascist instruments called the Patriot Acts and other acts of COngress like the NDAA - good luck)

Except that's now what they're protesting about.

They're losing their toys over a film that embassy staff and the government of the United States had nothing to do with.

It's unacceptable and if I were in charge I'd begin evacuating first of all non-essential personal from all embassies and missions across the middle east and then all essential staff at Embassies and missions across the middle east in nations where the governments cannot give reasonable assurance that their embassies will be protected.

It is one of the fundamental principles that almost 100% of nations agree upon.

That embassies are not fair game for ANY REASON.

Now... Unlike some people who are going to turn this whole thing in Libya, Egypt and Yemen into a pissing match about how violent muslims are, that too is bull**** and should not even come into the conversation.

Did you personally speak with them? Or are you simply repeating rumors of the reasons for the protests?

Blame Obama. He put the nail in the Constitution by signing the NDAA. It is what it is.

Bye bye American Pie.

If there are US diplomatic workers whose lives are at risk here, I hope the guards don't hesitate to shoot and kill any "protester" that tries to storm the embassy.

Because it would make too much sense to close the embassies where we know we are not welcome.

(and incidentally, North Korea may have some border issues with South Korea, but it isnt carrying out assassinations, drone attacks, full scale aerial bombings and land invasions of other nations that didnt attack them, and then theiving their energy resources on behalf of their corporate masters - now is it? So perhaps your example of North Korea is a poor one - and why would you HATE an entire nation? What has North Korea done to you - let alone to the USA?)
Because they don't want to, or because they can't, or because they're smart enough to know it would be suicide?

Why is it in America we have films like The Exorcist showing a young girl masterbating with a crucifix, shows like South Park and Family Guy crapping all over Christianity, Monty Pythons 'Holy Grail" movie but one little You Tube twinkle sets off an entire region of political, NOT RELIGIOUS furor? I no longer hold religion as the reason for all the Islamic psychosis as it is now politics and will only get bloodier. We and our fearless leaders need to stop condemming little things like a simple You Tube videos as long as we allow films and television like I have given here to exist. Should we now as a reaction of fear pass laws forbidding all religious commentary? We seem to be inching further and further away from reason and humanity and Iran is building a great big bad bomb.

Abandon the MENA region and let them all canalization each other. Filthy animals.

Because it would make too much sense to close the embassies where we know we are not welcome.

....and maybe we can stop giving these "democracies" any more foreign aid.

Punish the people because of the government? Why not just carpet bomb.

There are protesters storming the embassy. We can't just "close" it and magically transport the diplomatic workers out. I agree with closing the embassies in countries where we aren't welcome (Libya, Yemen, Iran, Syria). My post was about the CURRENT CRISIS GOING ON.
