Egyptian protesters tear down US flag in attack on Cairo embassy [W:53]

While this is despicable, I need more facts about who exactly was involved, whether it is nation wide or a splinter group, before I condemn the entire country or any efforts to by the US to co-opt this government. There is a lot more at stake in this region than to totally write off Egypt because of this incident.

I am not soft on this by any means, I was almost blown up in the first attack on the World Trade Center and lost friends in 9/11, however, a meaningful balance must take place in order to have this region stabilize.

"The flag, similar to the banner used by al Qaeda, is commonly used by ultraconservatives around the region. Almost all the embassy staff had left the compound before the protest, and the ambassador was out of town...One young member of the ultraconservative Salafi movement, Abdel-Hamid Ibrahim said, "This is a very simple reaction to harming our prophet."

That was not a reflection you or your statement Mya...:peace:mrgreen:

I am saying how resentful I feel because not only have I lost people that I cared for in 9/11 and the very fact that my life has changed so drastically that I live in some bubble especially when I go to NYC that this incident does not make me feel like I want some Connery justice done to these creeps. My level of resentment and aggression gets peaked with this stuff and I want to kick some butt on these sociopathic lunatics.

Lol, was that guy recording with an iPad?

It was illiterate hardliners who were responding to a film about Muhammed that portrayed him in a vulgar, perverse manner. That was deliberate.

While I doubt Americans would riot, I do think they would be angry if Jesus was portrayed that way in a movie.

These ****ing people can't be reasoned with and we should stop trying.

And, if anyone wonders whose side our government is on...you can stop wondering...

We have people who say "God Hates Fags", say weather catastrophes are "God's vengeance", and blame every bad thing that has happened on homosexuality, tolerance, liberalism, feminism, and whatever else.

Moreover how close would anyone get to a foreign embassy in the US to do these craziness. The whole premise is ludicrous.

Here is a " List of attacks on diplomatic missions" since 1829 through today. It appears foreign embassies are safe in the US...:)
