We are trillions in debt we are going to another country money to help pay off its debt. Foreign aid to all countries should be cut off period.

Egypt and U.S. near deal on debt relief - The Washington Post
CAIRO — The United States is nearing an agreement with Egypt’s new government to eliminate a significant portion of the $3.2 billion owed by the economically struggling nation, U.S. officials said Monday. The discussions are the first major negotiation between the Obama administration and Egypt’s new democratically elected leaders. U.S. officials have been in Cairo since last week hammering out the details of the debt relief package, which could approach $1 billion, a goal previously announced by the Obama administration. A final announcement is expected this month, according to a U.S. official speaking on the condition of anonymity because the agreement is not finalized.

Not just forgive debt to another country, but forgive debt to a country that is now run by people that hate us, and would kill all of us and blow Israel off the map.

Another bad move from a bad president.

How many of our homeless could we take care of with a billion dollars?

Let me explain how foreign policy works. Foreign aid and other "humanitarian" projects and actually quid pro quo exchanges. For example, we previously had a deal with Mubarak in which we exchanged money and weapons in return for using Egyptian jails to torture our prisoners. The real question in this situation is what kind of favor do we get in return for forgiving the debt? The most important issue is the Suez Canal, but it could also concern relations with Israel or covering up dirty laundry from past deals.

I want to agree with this, but there are other practical considerations as well. Unfortunately, those practical considerations make me want to take a shower.

I dare you to source that, its pure bull**** and you just made that **** up or heard it from someone else who made it up. Think what you want about foreign aid, or our relationship with Egypt or debt forgiveness, but you can't ignore facts or reality. Mohamed Morsi, I bet you don't even know who that is without looking it up, has not only honored the peace treaty with Israel but has also started to work together with Israel to help quell the minor insurgency in the Sinai Peninsula where they share a border.

The man is an Islamist in the sense that he believes in Islam and wants it to influence the government and laws of his country, but sorry he's not done anything hostile to other countries nor has he said he intends to do anything hostile to other countries.

Ever heard of the Muslim Brotherhood? They are a hippy organization that spreads peace and love across the world.

That's still not a source dude, and the Muslim Brotherhood isn't as one sided as you may believe.

Time will tell, won't it?

That's still not a source, come on where are you getting that Morsi wants to wipe Israel off the map? Is it because he's a member of the Muslim Brotherhood and that's all your using to judge him? Seems a bit swallow to me, it sounds like you haven't done your homework.

The Muslim Brotherhood has evolved since the days of Nasser. Its not the boogeyman you think it is.

Still rambling on I see? Have a lovely day.

It's rambling to demand a source or some explanation to back up your claim that one country's government wants to destroy another government? Heaven fobid. Sorry Arbo but you aren't ****ing special, you have to back up your statements just like everyone else, you don't get to just say something and have it be true.

Meh, I'm OK with this. Much of the debt that Egypt owes to the US was incurred under Hosni Mubarak...an unelected leader whom the Egyptian people regard as illegitimate. It seems a bit unfair to hold the Egyptian people responsible for his debt. After all, if a dictator took power in the US, we Americans wouldn't want to be held responsible for his debt.

Keep an eye out on how they impose sharia law or not, which direction women's rights goes, as well as other actions.

I could understand some refinancing, but forgiving their debt is just stupid.

They may, what you just listed is something very important to look out for. HOWEVER, we're talking about them wanting or plotting to destroy Israel that is entirely off the mark.

Muslim Brotherhood seeks end to Israel treaty - Washington Times

A desire to end a peace treaty if Israel doesn't 'improve the lot of the Palestinians'. In the past they have supported Hamas. You can do a little math and see what very well might happen.

I seriously doubt that Egypt will end the treaty or stop selling Israel gas.

They have been working very hard to reign in the renegades in the Sinai.

You certainly expect the worst. Why is that? Are you in Egypt?

People have been working very hard to reign in the 'renegades' all over the middle east, for hundreds of years. Hasn't worked well so far. That's perhaps why I expect the worst... history is my teacher.

Yeah, I'm in Egypt, that's why I put my location as Colorado.

Arbo-
besides just spewing your normal BS you hit a new low.

Since when do you give a crap about the homeless?

You want us to think if somehow Egypt gave us 1 billion dollars and Obama's administration spent it on the homeless you would applaud?

The bedouin who typically guard the pipelines have been in the weeds since the Arab Spring...

The only thing you know about the ME is when a riot breaks out in some slum.

A low would be you assuming to know what others give a crap about. Now do you care to comment on the subject matter of the thread, or did you just come in for an off base personal attack?
