(Reuters) - A federal judge issued a ruling on Friday that overturned early voting restrictions in Ohio, handing a victory to President Barack Obama's campaign, which had argued that the restrictions disproportionately hurt Democrats.
This is going to be appealed. The Federal judge invoked the Bush v. Gore decision in making his ruling, but when Bush v. Gore was decided, the Supreme Court specified that this ruling was not to be a precedent, and could only apply to that particual decision.
So, was the decision by Republicans to eliminate voting on the weekend before an election voter suppression, or a straightening out of the voter rules?
