Buffett Gives Kids Foundations $3 billion

I find that interesting because I heard him interviewed several years ago, and he indicated his children would not be receiving any more of his wealth. Flip. Flop. :rofl

Perhaps he's doing that in anticipation of the inheritance tax being re-instated for, at least, people in his stratosphere.

Everybody lies...

The funniest part, is how Libbos constantly brag about how he's a neato rich dude.

Let me say this, when I was in the financials market I knew lots of dirty tricks both on the sales end and on the competitive end. I chose to play fair and honest win or lose but if I had wanted to tank someone or cheat I knew exactly where the line was, this is why I HATE people like Buffett, he is dirtier than just about anyone and covers his ass with a bunch of feel good language. I say Buffett is slimy because he reminds me of the least honest agents I knew in the insurance field, they would smile, compliment you all day, use industry speak to confuse people, do end arounds, and then would flat **** the poor folks that they convinced to do business with them.

This thread and the stances in it from many are rather confusing.

Many of the people in this thread who are highly critical of Buffet and what he has done have in other threads and when discussing other people been very laudatory of rich people who take steps to avoid taxation and pass their money within the family and avoid certain taxes.

Why are they so inconsistent on this particular individual?

Have they changed their stance on inheritance taxes?

Have they changed their position on tax avoidance through legal maneuvers available to the wealthy?

Ir is this simply a matter of bashing your political enemies while defending your political allies of the exact same behaviors?

It's funny you mention the scum-baggery within the insurance ndustry, what with the Obamacare mandate-n-all.

For me its a matter of the hypocritical nature of what he says publicly about taxes and what he does privately. I would image its similar for most people.

Don't even get me started on that turkey, everyone lost on that bill and only about half of the country will admit it.

You must be describing Romney?

Buffett, not sure on Romney thats a we shall see one. He better not screw me or he's gona be one term president too.

Yep! Obama ****ed the insurance companies, by raising their coverage reserves and now the insurance companies are going to have to make it somewhere.

The GOP insisted Romney be the nominee, and didn't defend anyone else, they weighted the primaries to him. I will not support Romney in any way except my vote, no defense, no money, and if he strays off message too far maybe not even my vote. If Romney goes back on Obamacare or if he screws up financially or any other way the GOP loses me to the constitution party because of their mess.

Thank you for confirming that.

Alright can anyone not find the parallels between Buffet and Romney?
Buffet is being called scum for "legally tax dodging" which Romney also has done
The difference between the two is Buffet is the one who has pledged to give away 99% of his wealth...

the difference is that Romney doesn't whine about the tax system while using it to his advantage and demanding others pay more

Buffett is an asshole-he whines about his 300K a year secretary paying a higher effective income tax rate than he does because he intentionally structured his compensation to have an artificially low amount of salary.

Buffett is a lot like Jimmy Carter. Both huge phonies and complete assholes

Ahhhh thats not what I said. Anybody who did the same thing would have my ire regardless their affiliation. If Romney did it he have me all over him, and sure as hell wouldnt get my vote he's barely getting it as is. Maybee I didnt make that clear enough previously.

That's why I tell people that Buffet is right on the line, it's technically illegal to pay yourself a middle class wage in lieu of taking stock options. I forgot the exact law because it's been a while but if one owns a company compensation is supposed to weight somewhere towards the average of the field, stock options are allowable to be supplemental after that iirc. Buffett can aford to pay himself the top tier wage, and actually draws a smaller annualized salary than his secretary, he makes bank on the tax savings from the stocks.

I think you know this, and is a little slimy to try and parse what he did.

PARSE
verb
[with object]
resolve (a sentence) into its component parts and describe their syntactic roles:
I asked a couple of students to parse these sentences for me
Computing analyse (a string or text) into logical syntactic components:
a user question input is parsed into an internal conceptual representation

I didn't notice this happening in Adam's posts. What do you mean?

"Buffett Gives Kids Foundations $3 billion"

Why is it that whenever someone like Warren Buffet or George Soros does something decent, I have suspicions of some possible ulterior motive?!

Most likely my skepticism is the result of a mistrust of people who support anti-american politics and demonstrate an affinity for big government_

Really? Isn't he the one whining that taxes are too high, while using the finest accountants and lawyers money can buy to avoid paying any?

Spain's been a nation of tax dodgers for a long time now, and look where we are. You want to institute a default position where tax avoidance is the norm and the 'respectable' norm at that? Go ahead. Federal and State bankruptcy are just around the corner. You think that won't affect you, because you're rich, but it will.

Just gotta get this straight... when Romney donates to the Mormon church, he's to be revered for his charity but when Warren Buffett gives $3 billion to a kid's foundation he is to be scoffed at.

Man this political stuff is confusing.

He did not give money to a kids charity, he gave the money to HIS kids charity.

He is being scoffed at because he uses the same tax avoidance actions that he decries. This is about the the actions of an aging billionaire which seem to diverge from his public protestations.

Funny, something YOU would never be accused of!

I guess that rates as something sinister in your book but not mine

Its like me saying the mosquito population is too high and quite annoying while spraying insecticide liberally and wearing bug repellent.

What Buffett does is complain that its mean to deprive mosquitos of their meals while at the same time draining their breeding ponds and spraying DDT left and right

He's a fraudulent turd whose main goal is to get as many people as possible kissing his ass while screwing over the almost rich in order to buy the adulation of the parasite class

Buffett is saying "Let's play a nice game of tap football" while telling his team to chop block at the knees.
