Maybe, the dude is just ****ed in the head? Maybe...

He was shooting from a house near campus....

So this could have been a domestic dispute, a drug thing, a crazy guy off his rocker, or any other number of things.

I'll wait for details before I start trying to shove him into any specific mold.

That's right; nobody knows much yet about the shooter. One cop is dead, and the local paper says "mass casualties." I don't know exactly what this means either.

The Internet is unbelievably fast, but it's not necessarily accurate. We need to wait for more information.

I'm going to stand by my orginal assumption that this cat is ****ed in the head. That's a safe assumption, I believe.

He may fit into multiple molds, but crazy is certainly one of them. I don't see any way a sane person does this.

We don't even know what "this" is yet.

All we know is shots were fired, he was holed up in a house/building of some kind, and several people were injured and one killed.

We don't know how the police came to be there.
We don't know who shot first or if the police ever shot at all.
We don't know if there was a stand off of some kind, or a chase, or if a call for suspicious activity was submitted to 911.

A perfectly sane person, when backed into a corner, will do an awful lot for a chance at survival/freedom from the threat. It's actually an instinctual imperative.

Two people, including an elected Brazos County constable, are dead in a College Station shooting this afternoon near the Texas A&M University campus, authorities said.

The deaths were confirmed at a 2:30 p.m. news conference by College Station Police Department Assistant Chief Scott McCollum.

Precinct 1 Constable Brian Bachmann, as well as another unidentified male civilian, were killed in the shooting just after noon in the 200 block of Fidelity.

Two other College Station police officers received life threatening injuries in the shooting. Another civilian, a female, was injured and is undergoing surgery, McCollum said.

A constable came to evict him and he barracaded himself in his home, then shot the constable.

Source? Haven't seen that in any articles I've read.

From the Eagle:

Constable Brian Bachmann, a longtime deputy with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Department, apparently was serving paperwork at the home near the Texas A&M campus.

Thank you! Wonder if it was actually an eviction notice or something else. Shame to kill others and end up dead yourself over anything the constable might have been dropping off.

without knowing the facts yet I'd bet it was NOT an automatic weapon

From what I've read, constables working for the sheriff's office serve eviction notices. I've also read that this was a rent-house owned by a civil engineering prof.

Thats a safe bet, given how few have ever been used in a mass shooting.

I believe there have only been 2 legally purchased automatics used in mass shootings since 1934.

I don't see "the weapon" in either pic.

That's 'interesting' neither do I when I go back to the site - the photos are there but now have different numbers

I did see those photos. Has this vehicle has been ID'd yet as the shooter's? I have read that the shooter took Constable Bachmann's ammo after shooting him. Not sure why, but he wouldn't have been carrying an assault weapon. Why would the shooter want the ammo?
