The anti-Chick-fil-A protest - Starbucks [W:39]

Except SSM is about equal rights...

Some think yes...some think not..and its quite an even split sometimes going one way or the other....but id bet just like most state votes...theres more on the nay side of that still than the yay.

People saying Starbucks is expensive sound like poor heathens from the third world. Actually, they sound like they've never left the US and tried coffee from other countries. Anybody here ever had Jamaican Blue Mountain? Not that Whole Foods crap. But actually in the Blue Mountains?

It just seems petty. Is there then going to be another counter-appreciation day to counter this one?

Come on people, this is ******* pathetic.

I am calling for a support local businesses and american made products decade both to support and oppose every political stance or personal belief.

Um, with respect I'm not 100% clear on what you mean.

I suppose support for local businesses and American-made products is alright, but exactly how it'll be made to oppose and support every political stance or personal view leaves me wondering what the purpose would be. That, and I'm unsure how exactly that relates to these petty actions over the CEO's opinion. Personally I think business owners should be able to voice their opinions without fear of punishment or hyper-sensitive people attacking them for it. If people want to boycott them or be cretins, that's fine, but personally I think the cretin-like behavior is unneeded and only harms their cause.

What if I support outsourcing jobs to China?

All this drama over the CEO giving his opinion in an interview and the fact that, *gasp*, he's legally donating to causes he believes in.

This only strengthens the stereotype some hold of liberals and homosexuals being overly sensitive, in response to mere opinions!

The whole thing is a huge overrreaction on both sides. "The Mayor of Boston said mean things about Chick-fil-A! Let's rise up and show them yankees!"

I don't think it was merely "mean things" as you put it, but that there seemed to be a serious suggestion by Rahm that Chick-fil-A not set up shop in Chicago. The mere hint of politicians suggesting businesses not come to their cities/towns because of viewpoints alone is bothersome.

It does exist. It's called due process. It's called the 14th Amendment. It's there in order to address topics exactly like this. It states no group of Americans can be seen differently under the law without compelling state interest.

Seems like some on the right have differing opinions of what constitutes rights depending on the subject. Some times a right is inalienable and inherent regardless of a court's opinion on it. Other times, a right doesn't exist until a court approves it. So which is it?

It is both of course. Our opinions on what is inalienable does't mean squat. Your 14th amendment claim is only that and not law or decided.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Can't protest gay oreos on an empty stomach.
Like times a dozen. I laughed...

Wish more people would adopt this philosophy.

Yeah, but oh well. I prefer to spend my money on local shops than big corporations, even if you spend a bit more. The Green's Bean in Sparta is a pretty good coffee house, and much much better than anything you're going to get from Dunkin Donuts, which as I have said is taken as some form of actual coffee house around here. I don't think people in New Jersey have any taste. Must be all the pork roll.

I like Starbucks, and I like their coffee, but I'm not sure I want to make the trip to the nearest Starbuck just to make a point. That's the problem with Dems/Libs, they aren't willing to form up like sheeple like Republican/conservatives just to make a point.

I support SSM because I believe that they are not getting fair treatment. I really don't understand homosexuality, but I don't like how people are just plain mean to them. All these people supporting ChicKfil-A, claim that it is against God for same sex marriage, well God is also against treating people unfairly and being hateful and some of these Chickfil-A people make some awful comments regarding gays. I guess they think God appreciates their behavior toward one of His creations.

Hahahahahah.....hahahahahahah. I like Starbuck's too.
I kinda found that funny too. Hey...we are all going to protest by shopping at the WalMart. Look...the crowd was HUGE! What a success!

Personally...Im holding my protest on black Friday and I am encuraging everyone that believes in my cause to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving. If lots of people show up...I will use that as evidence that people support my cause. Fingers crossed!

Hey, let's protest someone's a restaraunt because their owner, like most americans, supports traditional marriage, and we will all go have coffee in a Zionist coffee shop chain!

Actually I believe it was the wrath of Gawd if we shake our fists at Him comments that went a bit too far for some folks, FYI not all of whom are gay...

but leave off half of what the guy said to bolster your sarcasm...

And yet you didnt say **** when Farrakhan called homosexuals swine and the honorable mayor of Chicago embraced him. Hmmmm...coul..

Oh...never mind. No need to start that again.

I can't marry a married woman either can I? But I LOVE HER AND I HAVE A HUMAN RIGHT TO MARRY HER BECAUSE i LOVE HER.

And you are genetically attracted to her, or whatever crap was said earlier in this thread. This thread is dumb.

What people think doesn't change the facts though. People didn't think blacks were equal but despite that, "all men are created equal" is the fact.

Dude is some kind of corporate real estate guy. Or was....

Joe. My. God.

I guess it's some kind of bad thing when you set General Mills lawn on fire. I know a guy who's a lawyer there -- dressed up as Count Chocula for Halloween a couple of years ago when our bands were sharing a bill.

All this talk about coffee makes me wonder what it tastes like.

Personally, I could not care less one way or the other. Mostly when I see this I see a giant effort to silence those that do not agree with others. You like the opinions of a CEO or don't, that is fine. But why protest and picket the company because an individual expresses his own opinion?

This to me is for people who are so wrapped up in issues that tehy can't seperate out anything that they do not agree with. I think I should form a group, and protest any company that has come out with a stand on gay marriage one way or the other. Protest any company making silly and often pointless political gestures, and only support those that try to stay as neutral as possible.

Well if you would stop getting caffeine put intravenously into your body and actually drink some coffee you'd find out

I know I know, that's the inefficient way :)

Here, GPS, I'm going to take the same arguments you make against SSM and use them against interracial marriage. Note that I am actually FOR interracial marriage, but using this as a reductio ad absurdum

What right does a white guy who wants to marry a white woman have that a black guy who wants to marry a white woman doesn't?
