On the eve of Mitt Romney's visit to Israel, President Barack Obama signed into law a military aid bill for that staunch American ally at a much-publicized White House ceremony that highlighted the political advantages of incumbency.

OK, it's a good bill, but my point here is in the timing of this. Obama waits until the eve of Romney's visit to Israel to spring this on him. America's relationships should not be held hostage to political gamesmanship.

Obama = Douche Bag!!

this along with his major support for Israel's Iron Dome project, shows that he does indeed care about Israel & its security.

Shows that progressivism is a Zionist project.

Carry on.

How much money are we spending on this? We're broke bitches!

Not a fan of political gamesmanship in the realm of defense and international matters.

Edit: Also seems it wasn't an isolated coincidence. From the article sourced in the OP:
The signing ceremony, a relatively uncommon event in the Obama White House, fit a pattern this week of the administration trumpeting relations with Britain, Israel and Poland—the three countries on Romney's trip overseas to polish his diplomatic credentials.

We shouldn't be giving anything to Israel,(notice that I said we). When you are in debt the last thing you should be doing is giving away money.Heck even when are not in debt we shouldn't be giving money away to any country. Let the Israelis take care of themselves.

pardon, but what exactly does that mean?

It means if it wasn't for progressivism, the Balfour Declaration wouldn't have been fulfilled from WW1.

Next.

Obama supports Israel, but he clearly signed this additional funding in order to get right-wing Jewish votes in Florida & other swing states.

I agree with that last part, and it was a canny political move on President Obama's part. However, I',m not so sure the Israelis are all that convinced Obama supports them. Oh, they'll take the aid, and probably give a thank you speech, but I don't believe they are onboard with Obama.

I don't think there is much Obama can do short of kicking the UN out of New York & declaring his support for all right-wing Israeli demands, that would please many Israelis.

Eh...

...Zionism has ties to Jewish feminism supporting multiculturalism in order to look tolerant. If he has the balls to stand up for the black community against feminism in showing how the decay of family values hasn't helped, then, he could boot Zionism off the Democratic agenda.

there's nothing wrong with foreign aid.

there's nothing wrong with foreign aid.

Leave to it a lib to see nothing wrong with taking money someone earned and then give it to someone else who did nothing to earn that money.

a mere drop in the bucket.

70 million is still a **** load of money. If 70 million was such a drop in the bucket then why give everyone in this country a million dollars, after all its just a drop in the bucket.

Most of the "aid" we give Israel comes in the form of last generation military equipment that we're done with. Our government calculates the value just like the police calculate the "street value" of the drugs they confiscate. Looks better that way.

Tell that to the American citizens who need the aid to stay on American soil, people are suffering in the U.S., but ofcourse that's not your first country of concern!

Let me guess: you don't care about the $1.3 BILLION that the Republican debt ceiling stunt cost us, right?

At any rate, Obama signed this bill ... that was presumably passed by Congress? So Congress ... including the Republican House ... is in on this cheap ploy to undermine Romney's field trip?

Wait! Wasnt it like just last year that Obama "hated Israel" and was "anti-Israel"?!?!?!? I mean this is what the great US media told us! Whats going on here! Im so confuse!

did the congress schedule and set this up? Seems like the administration would establish their own calendar

Israeli's aren't, American jews however? Well that's another story. They're liberals above all else. Obama would have to bomb Israel for some of these American Jews to change their vote.

Tim-

Erm, no -- Congress sets its own schedule.
