Top Republicans denounce attack on Clinton aide

the FBI was forced to disregard serious investigations into a few guys at State, who had connections to AIPAC.

why? because of accusations of anti-Semitism.

its too bad Muslims don't have that kinda pull.

AIPAC isn't a terrorist orginization.

Why is it so hard for people to see the difference?

Wonder is she ever questioned the Bush Bin Laden connections.

Don't speculate, if you have a case, show us. Until then, you are talking out of your ass. Bryd stayed in the senate until he left on his own term, despite his ties to the KKK. Every election, he have news of Presidential candidate seeking endorsement from pastor who spew all sort of crap like this: John Hagee - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Foreign and religious influence" goes all the way to the President. That's not the what people are concerned about, it's only when it's Muslims that it becomes an issue for investigation whether there's evidence or not.

Except it doesn't hold for everyone. People with ties to Israel and terrorist group like the IRA get to stay:

We have Israeli lobby groups operating: AIPAC - The American Israel Public Affairs Committee despite this: U.S. cool to report of Israeli spy ring - NYTimes.com

Of course we approach disparate groups differently, because some have positions that are advantageous to american foreign policy, and others do not (you're pretty much complaining that water is wet)

Did the IRA kill 3,000 Americans one moring?

Did the Muslim Brotherhood kill 3000 Americans one morning? I think what you're looking for is "Muslim" or "Muslim terrorists" which to people like Bachman are probably interchangeable terms. It's not about Muslims being most dangerous to "national security" either, there are rings of Russian and Israel spies being caught, and then the Chinese infiltrating web security, to be worried about. It's about these people Muslims, and 19 Muslims killed 3000 people, so we better get all the Muslims. Which is why this whole thing is a Muslim witch hunt.

No, but an anti-American Muslim terrorist orginization did. Low-n-behold, the MB is an anti-American/anti-Israeli terrorist orginization.

See a pattern?

I'm pointing to the fact that groups are treated differently, contrary to what he claimed. If you want to join this conversation, you ought to read what it's about.

If I was deputy chief of staff for SECSTATE? It wouldn't fly and we both know it.

Maybe someone could play the populist card and cause a scandal where there should really be none. But on it's own merits it's rather baseless

Right, a 24 years PhD student going on a rampage, we should all be fearful of all 24 years old PhD students. See the insanity?

And like I said, it's about a Muslim witch hunt.

While I'm far from a fan of the Egyptian MB when was the last time they carried out any type of armed attack, let alone one that could be classified as a "terrorist attack"?

They're calling for the destruction of Israel. Purdy much makes them the guys that aren't on our side.

they are?

Then why don't we investigate GW Bush for his ties with the Bin Laden family?

Perhaps, because the Bin Laden family had cut all it's ties to Osama in the 80's? Is this ol' girl willing to denounce her family?

Top Republicans denounce attack on Clinton aide - Yahoo! News

While I'm glad that mainstream Republicans are denouncing this ridiculous attack on American Muslims, I have to wonder why rabid right wing partisans have such an axe to grind with Muslims. They constantly point out that Obama's father is a Muslim. They try to stop Muslims from building mosques in New York. They even attack Muslims serving in our own congress. Xenophobic attitudes like this need to be exposed as being wrong.

The right-wing relies on fear to keep their base excited.

They're calling for the destruction of Israel. Purdy much makes them the guys that aren't on our side.

um.....Israel has actually two branches of the Muslim Brotherhood, legally working in their country.

if Israel is ok with the Muslim Brotherhood functioning in their country, so can we.

Bush was never connected with Osama Bin Laden.

Bush ties to bin Laden haunt grim anniversary - The Denver Post

In 1978, Bush and Osama bin Laden's brother, Salem bin Laden, founded Arbusto Energy, an oil company based in Texas.

Interestingly, on Sept. 11, 2001, members of the Carlyle Group - including Bush senior, and his former secretary of state, James Baker - were meeting at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C., along with Shafiq bin Laden, another one of Osama bin Laden's brothers.

....

While all flights were halted following the terrorist attacks, there was one exception made: The White House authorized planes to pick up 140 Saudi nationals, including 24 members of the bin Laden family, living in various cities in the U.S. to bring them back to Saudi Arabia, where they would be safe. They were never interrogated.

Sure. :) What a surprise is it that apdst of all people has not only compared white nationalists to this woman - who we have NO EVIDENCE of ever having been a member of the Muslim brotherhood but he's also made the argument that Muslims as a whole should be investigated because of 9/11. I guess it's more of the false pretence he likes to show off regularly. Any minute now, he'll be telling us all how he's a black Muslim born in Cairo so any positions of his that are attacked are just hate on his Conservative values and not his blatantly ridiculous comparisons.

Link for that?

I never compared white supremacists to this woman. But, I consider the source.

Binladin family disowned Osama bin Laden

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — Days after the terrorist attacks, 11 members of the Binladin family boarded a chartered jet and left their homes around Boston. Abdullah Mohammed Binladin, 35, a half brother of accused terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden, stayed behind. But since Sept. 11, he has stopped using credit cards and avoids strangers who might hear his name and become upset. He has also suspended his hobby of flying single-engine planes, fearing the reaction he might get. "Our name is being hijacked," he told the Boston Sunday Globe.

USATODAY.com - Binladin family disowned Osama bin Laden

Yesterday, Ambrose Carey, the brother of the British woman who married Salem, described the family as "decent and respectable" people who had not been in contact with Osama since the early 1990s.

"He brought enormous shame on the family and for that he has been ostracised," he said. "My sister leads a quiet, unflashy existence in a beautiful house in Cairo and, along with the rest of the family, I know she is appalled at what has happened."

Outcast disowned by his outraged family - Telegraph

Welcome to the real world.

With such standards, every POTUS would be impeached every three months...... You expect perfection in an imperfect world. Its time for you to grow up.

Sorry, but NONE of those things are even remotely constitutional encroachments. One of the main jobs of any chief executive (POTUS or corporate CEO) is to deploy the limited resources in the manner he best sees fit to achieve the objectives of the organization. If the POTUS had unlimited resources, he could do a whole lot more than he can when people want to limit government. There are lots of laws on the books, they can not all be enforced, nor do you really want them to be... Presidents, governors, mayors, sheriffs, police chiefs, presidents of homeowners associations all pick their battles. It is the very nature of their jobs to make these decisions.

Any further discussion along these lines really needs to be moved to another thread. I have no problem discussing them, but it is really not related to the thread here. My original post was made because my Representative was named. He was named by a media article that had the intentent (IMO) of attempting to rouse opposition to him. I simply said that I would not rise against him and why. My second post was to partially agree with a response and to explain why I believed there were extenuating circumstances in this case.

My apologies to those who think my responses went to far outside this thread. You are correct and I should of asked to move the discussion, or moved it myself, elsewhere after my second post.

wait, I thought the mere pretense of a link (that her brother may simply work with some fundamentalist, who it was never mentioned were active members of the MB)n was grounds for suspicion and an investigation?

seems your standards here are a little more than self-serving
