71 Year Old Defends Internet Cafe Against Armed Robbers in FL. (Video)

Kudos to the Geezer.

Beware of old people, they will kill your sorry thug-wannabe ass.

I believe they are wearing hoodies, no skittles though.

Old Dude Plugs Two Thugs

Video at link.

Hey grandpa where you going with that gun in your hand?

Now that is the kind of gun control I approve. and its why 17 shot magazines are something armed citizens should have. a few more shots he'd killed both of those asstards

Or something better than a .380 auto.... a .38+p snub likely would have ended their worries for good, or a 9 or better of course.

I watched the surveillance tape.... cagey wiley old geezer did EXACTLY what I told my son I'd do. Sit near the back away from the door, and when the punk with the gun TURNED HIS BACK he got up and started shooting.

Smart man.

The old dude takes his shots carefully, even though he misses his 1st head shot attempt. Sparks off the sidewalk around :48. No broken glass, just wounded bad guys.

Yup, he's practiced and knows how to shoot. Good tactics: surprise attack followed by focused aggression. Score is CCW 2 Punk-ass thugs 0.

Yeah do like De Niro did to the punk in the Convenience Store in "Taxi Driver"

I don't know-the COR-BON stuff I have in that little SIG P238 back up piece are pretty nasty though the standard 38 Hornady Critical Defense in my SW air weight are probably a bit nastier. My favorite round is the Winchester DHS issued 135 grain Border Patrol 40. Its a very very fast but low recoil round that opens up like a garbage can on impact.

Yeah, I got a compact .40 that's my main carry gun. I use 135gr Hydroshock in it. Never shot a man with it, but it tore up a rabid fox quite thoroughly one time.

That made my day. Hats off to my fellow geezer.

the only guy I ever shot was a lightly built PCP fueled "urban Ute" and I had a PMC hollow point that was pretty similar to the old Silver tip. It was a contact shot in the belly. It blew the rectum inside out leading the DA to note that the mope was going to have a painful first date night in prison. The EMT guy noted to the DA in my presence that the gas jet from the SW 9MM caused almost as much damage as that bullet going about 1150 FPS through the stomach and intestines

Sooner or later, young punks, thugs, dumbasses, suckers and fools will get the message: More people than ever are legally carrying concealed; many practice and are fairly proficient; a hell of a lot of them are not afraid to shoot when they have have to.

 TurtleDude turned a "Ute" into mobile ballistic gelatin!

the best was his accomplice who lost Bowel control when his homie got whacked. the accomplice got thrown into the local holding cell where he ran into an acquaintance from the local senior class who was doing an overnighter for a DUI. Unknown to the accomplice (who was mercifully given a clean pair of prison fatigues and a shower) the cell was being taped by the local constabulary.

The conversation went like this

YO Nelson what's up

Uh me and D jumped the "pizza man" and the dude was packing (the mopes had ordered a pizza to get some cash and munchies-I was carrying some groceries and was wearing my Yale varsity team jacket that looked like the local Pizza delivery uniform)
he blew D's asshole out

bummer man-he make it?

Don't know man-the cops cuffed me up as the paramedics were taken D away

Uh, no, no, no. I can't let you try to slip that by me. It is possible that the pizza delivery dudes were actually Yale grads who wore their letter jackets when working at their jobs delivering pizza.

Not that I'm disagreeing with the Sheriff's decision not to press charges, but I didn't think you could shoot at a fleeing person in Florida, especially after the bad guys were out of the building.

you have a point man of the football players (my team was not football) were local Italian boys whose uncles, cousins etc owned the many pizza joints around Yale and more than a few of them had jobs at the pizza joints. But this didn't happen anywhere near New Haven. I lived on campus all four years (as did 98% of the undergrads) and the only gun I had some access to was my Perazzi Mirage Skeet gun since I had a single room and the cops trusted me to keep in locked up in a footlocker in my room.

I like how the bat thug plowed over the pistol thug on the way out. To your point, I'm going to continue shooting until thug drops his pistol.

The defender had no way of knowing if both men were still armed and simply falling back to gain cover and regroup. The booger eaters had already demonstrated an unquestionable willingness to use deadly force. Anyone stupid enough to do that might have also been planning to kill everyone in the place and take their money. It is reasonable to assume that the two idiots would return fire if they had had the opportunity. Honestly, I was impressed by the defender's aggression. THAT aggression was a strong deterrent against the puke's returning. The defender's aggressive response all but guaranteed the thugs would not return. Good on him.

I have mixed feelings about this particular incident. I am glad it all went well, I do believe in a person’s right to arm themselves, and I am glad they aren’t pressing charges against the old man.

That said, it is possible he took an unwarranted risk with other people’s lives. What if they had returned fire and hit a bystander? What if they had backup standing outside? Risking your own life is one thing; risking the lives of those around you is another.

Now, if he genuinely believed it was likely they were going to shoot people that is a different story. I wasn’t there so I don’t know what the “vibe” was. I am not saying he was necessarily wrong. I just don’t want people to think that just because one is armed, that drawing on thieves is always the right choice.

You got it. Thugs do not think like the average human being. Show weakness and they will exploit it. Back off and they will see it as weakness. Shooting their asses all the way out as they scramble to the door insures that they will not take advantage of you, if you had let up. You do not know what they will do, but by their behavior they more than demonstrated their willingness to lay your soul to waste. It is reasonable to assume that they would shoot you and other people until you gained and maintained the upper hand. Once they are out of the building you are in a much better defensive position.

What if Aretha Franklin had suddenly entered the place, bent over and lighted bean fart?

None of that happen. What if-ing it doesn't work, ever. The fact of the matter is the defender was wise to take the advantage when he had it because no one knew what the thugs were going to do.

If a thug has a drawn weapon and is in the process of committing a crime unless you depend on someone else to defend you you are going to be at the mercy of what the gun holder(s) plan to do. They are not logical, thinking people. Why would you want to place your life in their good graces? How do you know a man holding a gun on you has any good graces?

Exactly. When the thug came in with the gun, the bystanders were already at risk. Anytime a guy comes in waving a gun around like that you've got to assume he might use it. What the old guy did was the right move.

maybe the old guy should have got all the victims to sing Kumbaya and defuse the nastiness with waves of good Karma?
