France's far-right National Front is to sue Madonna after an image at the US singer's Paris concert showed party leader Marine Le Pen with a swastika imposed on her face. National Front vice-president Florian Philippot said the party could not accept "such an odious comparison".
The image, in a video accompanying the song Nobody Knows Me, was followed by another resembling Adolf Hitler.
Madonna was performing at the Stade de France in a Paris suburb on Saturday. Link.

I hope the french judges kick the NF's case out -mind you this will be good publicity for Madonna's next concert in Nice.

This will be an interesting case to follow - I think Madonna will come out best from this and hopefully some who supported the French far-right will be shown up for the scum they are. The French Govt should award Mademoiselle Madonna a Légion d'honneur for this.

I see your point, but I think Madonna's going to take it in the shorts on this one. What she did was libelous in a public forum.
 
This is a big deal in Europe. I can see Madonna havimg to cough some cash and make fairly humiliating public apology.
 
Really depends on france's laws, obviously.

I do suspect that the french are particularly disdainful of uses of the swastika for such things, however. Though the nazi's themselves were much more of a "far left group" than a "far-right" one. Useful idiots like Madonna aren't likely to know such basic things.

Yes, it is a complete error of history that the nazis were socialists and that the communists and nazi leadership both agreed that there is little difference between a nazi and communist.

No one really does, and they won't after this, either. a 50 + year old pop star is like a 50+ year old hooters waitress; not even another 50+ year old wants to see that ****.
 
It was stupid for Madona to Godwin during the concert. Then again I would assume that something like this should be considered freedom of speech. I'm not an expert on French law though or if something like this could be considered a defamation of character.

Just so you know, the Nazis actually prosecuted socialists, social democrats and communists. Their ideology was one of "socialism" in which the individual freedoms (of Aryans) would not be restricted by classes. Furthermore they supported classical right wing ideas like mercantilism and even modern concepts of private ownership as long as they furthered the interests of the Aryan nation.

Any honest person of any intellectual ability and historical knowledge fully knows there is nothing "right wing" about the nazis, and that is simply one of many canards of the american left.

Nazism is actually an extension of national liberalism from the Second Reich, and it endorsed the Protestant Reich Church.

The Protestant Reformation's emphasis of total depravity was the basis of labor theory of value, so if anything, Nazism was classically liberal, not conservative.

You haven't talked with many fascists, have you? They openly admit that their goal is to paint an authoritarian veneer on top of liberal ideas because they want liberal economics to fuel the war machine.

That way, the State doesn't have to care about human rights. It can simply drill towards productivity, and let the weak, fragile, and sensitive fall through the cracks.
