U.S. Concerned as Syria Moves Chemical Stockpile

I hope Obama gets that Declaration of War before he goes after those WMDs.

Word on the street is, Powell is heading to the UN with pictures and evidence of WMD.

I think the next candidate must go farther than reduce the Pentagon by half but also prmonise to shut down the CIA. The criminal CIA represents a government within a government

I think the US should follow the Prime Directive. I'm tired of my taxes funding the world's police force.

I also think the US should speak softly and carry a big stick. If it must defend as it did in WWII, then engage in war to win.

And yes civilians are a casualty of war. Governments place their own citizens in harms way and when the US tries to avoid civilian casualties, American service men and women die.

You can't be politically correct and win at war. It costs much more in human as well as economic capital.

So what happens if Assad commits the unspeakable horror and gasses his own people? Seems more like an Israeli or Turkey concern, not a US one.

The Red Cross states the obvious, and suddenly it's the USA's job to clean up the mess?? I think not.

Perhaps Uncle Sam's hands are full now with the forthcoming elections, fixing the economy, and plans to attack Iran.

That doesn't effect the ability of the army to deploy.
Sure. But is Syria really interested in any of these claims? Cuz i believe your imagainiation has got a hold of you.

I don't recall you saying that.
I never said it but johnny_rebson did: "It involves sending our military to kick some major butt in a nation where they really deserve it."

Another one who seems to be concerned is Nawaf Fares, Syrian ex-ambassador to Iraq,he was the most prominent politician to defect since the uprising against President Assad began. He has held senior positions in the ruling Baath Party and powerful security services, and served as governor in several provinces. He even said: "There is information, unconfirmed information, that chemical weapons have been used in Homs."

He manifested that Asadd would only be ousted by force "even if he will have to eradicate the entire Syrian people".

Of course that is his personal opinion but coming from such high level source, it's interesting.

There is more pressure on Asaad as "Major-General Adnan Sillu, the former head of Syria's chemical weapons programme, has reportedly defected. Sillu is said to have taken up a post as head of the joint military leadership of the FSA." I would not be surprised if Asaad uses the weapons as he seems to be losing his grip as pressure mounts.

I agree, and have already said I would not be surprised if he used chemical weapons. Based on what the international community did to Iraq for the same thing... nothing... he's really got nothing to fear.

I disagree. The situation is different this time around. Syria isn't on the US' aid list unlike Iraq when they used US supplied WMD. If Assad is to use his weapons on his people, it will be the worst thing ever. We want to be inside Syria. President Obama has already said that Syria can't go back to normal with Assad still in power. Regime change is on the agenda, which has been called for for years. Did you ever stop to think that the Arab Spring had Western fingers in it? Hmm...
