Taliban shoot woman 9 times in public execution as men cheer

Islamist terrorists are responsible for it. But in my view, its occurrence would have been far less likely without military intervention by the United States government in the Middle East. We are not our government, though.

It might be less likely I'll freely grant, but that doesn't invalidate our intervention. For an analogy the US decision to expand and stiffen its resource embargo against Japan and its support of the Chinese 'government' both morally and materially may have prompted Japan to expedite its attack on the United States. Did US action bring about the attack? Perhaps yes. But that doesn't mean the act was incorrect. Likewise I don't think expelling Saddam from Kuwait at the invitation of regional governments and with massive global support for the sake of protecting a vital energy node is something I oppose, even if bin Laden thought he could attack us over it. No I keep doing what I think is right for our country morally and strategically (personally I think they are intertwined) and if it offends the Osama bin Laden's of the world, well... that's why he's at the bottom of the Indian Ocean.

Airplanes into towers???? like 911? because of religious fanaticism?

It's pretty sick and it doesn't get worse than that in my opinion.

Uhhh im agreeing with you.....
Its not just Islamic extreme fanatics that **** **** up its any religious fanatic.

They werent cheering over her death...they were cheering because with this woman it 'only' took 9 bullets. The last 6 times it took over 20...EACH. Achmed's aim is improving.

Are you an isolationist then? Do you believe that the US should withdraw from the rest of the world lest someone else decide they can murder our citizens to advance their political and religious purposes?

No not really.. The crazed jihadis kill mostly Muslims so there really is no "sponsoring" state or dispensation..
They are not crazed. They are the one percent who are willing to advance their religion.

September 11th was also a tragedy for the Arab world...
Perhaps in the same way that the successful attack on Pearl Harbor was a tragedy for Japan. On the other hand the murders of our citizens and the destruction of billions of dollars worth of property led directly to a free Iraq.

Sept 11th wasn't sponsored by any government or sovereign state. Iraq is not free... Iraq is still a mess and we've been there a decade. Most of us knew it was going to be expensive and take forever.

Right.

So bomb us and we will free you.

Is this really the signal we should be sending?

The Afghanistan government is under pressure to do something. This situation underscores the need for women's rights in this country. It is not enough to "educate" people there must be societal rules established that will be enforced. Upon handing down the death sentence the "a bearded man is seen reading verses from the Koran condemning adultery, before saying: We cannot forgive her, God tells us to finish her. Juma Khan, her husband, has the right to kill her."

"British Foreign Secretary William Hague said he was "shocked and disgusted", with the government condemning the "deplorable" action and calling upon Afghanistan's rulers to bring the perpetrators to justice. "Such deplorable actions underline the vital need for better protection of the rights of women and girls in Afghanistan," Mr Hague said in a statement. The foreign minister explained that the British government was working with its Afghan counterparts, NGOs and international partners to improve the status of women in Afghanistan.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton earlier made a powerful plea for the rights of women in the war-ravaged nation after the horrific video emerged. Mrs Clinton, who was addressing a world conference on Afghanistan's future, in Tokyo, said: "The United States believes strongly that no nation can achieve peace, stability and economic growth if half the population is not empowered."
Global chorus of outrage after Afghan woman executed by Taliban for adultery

Just remember that suicide is a sin in Islam, just like in Christianity.

Except that suicide for jihad purposes is not considered suicide, but instead martyrdom.

I stand with Mya, we will have to disagree on this one.

This is more of a cultural problem than a religious problem. Having had this discussion with Muslims who are not fanatics and have come from places like this they all seem to agree that the culture is the root of the problem.

Many times people confuse the issue. Non Muslims see it as Islam as the problem which in fact it's usually a bastardized form of Islam based on their culture.

I don't think those that constantly attack Islam are necessarily worried about intellectual honesty!

It is only the immature, dogmatic leftists that act as their apologists.

I'm sorry but I thought ALL LIBERALS are immature, dogmatic leftists that supports Islamism and hates all jews and christians.

I don't know. From what I tend to notice, it is always about a person's religion. Any behavior by anyone of a religion is a direct reflection on the entire religion. If a person is a muslim, and they execute an act of terrorism, then all muslims are terrorists. If a person is a catholic and molests a child, then all catholics are child molesters. If a person is Jewish and condemns gay marriage then all Jews are homophobic. Each person who chooses to take part in a religion is completely responsible for all of the actions of everyone else within that religion. Not just current, past and future are appliciable too!

Iraq is free.

It is always expensive and we will be there as long as it is appropriate.

You can't bomb people into democracy.. We had a huge advantage over a country crippled by two decades of war and sanctions. Instead of a war we also had huge leverage thru diplomatic channels.

It should be obvious by now that America cannot impose its will on the Pashtuns of Afghanistan. They will not accept American norms regarding the treatment of women or gay people.

Oh I got it!

The Key to victory in Afghanistan is to start executing our homosexuals and beating our woman!!!!

It can't fail!
