Andy Griffith 1926 - 2012

I remember watching him as the Sheriff on his own show every week. He will be missed.

It is a terrific film.. What was the character.... oh yeah. Lonesome Rhodes.

There arent too many in America that dont remember this whistled theme song fondly:

My children are smitten.. They grew up on Mayberry and later were fans of Matlock.

You know there is something very sweet about wholesome and we just don't have enough of that anymore.

I liked Matlock alot and the format always showcased rising young talent... but I loved Mayberry and the whole ensemble.

Andy Griffith was truly one of a kind... He wasn't just a good actor/entertainer, he was a good man first and foremost, who didn't sell his soul for Hollywood fame and fortune. In all the years performing on Broadway, Television, in the movies and even a successful music career, Griffith never abandoned his religious convictions, or his moral values, and he never lost sight of who he was and where he came from. It is for those reasons that the Andy Griffith Show isn't just one of the best American sitcoms ever, it's also one of the best TV shows ever to air, period.

What a nice tribute to Andy.. He was a wholesome and adorable man.

Griffith began his entertainment career with comic monologues and moved into movies, debuting in 1957’s “A Face in the Crowd” with Patricia Neal.

But it was as the widower sheriff Andy Taylor on “The Andy Griffith Show” that he really made his mark.

The show, which also starred a young Ron Howard as Griffith’s son Opie, and comedian Don Knotts as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife, ran from 1960-1968.

Its setting, in the fictional small-town of Mayberry, became almost as famous as any one episode.
