"Monster" Colorado wildfire rages; Obama plans visit

Great...

Another liberal...having nothing relevant to say...MUST post something!!

And people here talk about "political hacks"???

I guess my comment went over your head.

You are correct, of course.

In fact, Obama isn't thinking of the Springs, either. He's only thinking of how he can maximize the benefit to his campaign.

He's probably tired of people bitching at him no matter what he does. Case in point. We know people will bitch if he doesn't come (shown in the oil spill) and now people are bitching if he does come.

Again...I don't care about the oil spill. I also don't care about what other people bitch about. I speak MY mind, only...not anyone else's mind.

So, dude...you have a choice. Continue bringing up what other people say or address what I say.

You are simply a good example of a wider problem.

Fine. Explain.

And while you are at it...explain the benefits to Colorado Springs as opposed to the costs to Colorado Springs of a campaign visit from Obama at this time.

I actually opened this thread hoping to hear from folks in Colorado more first-hand details of what's going on, which DP posters are out of harm's way and which are in danger of losing their homes. I'm really damned disappointed that this thread isn't about giving information about the fire. It's just using the fire to fuel a partisian bitchfest. Pity.

The wider problem is that people are going to find fault in obama no matter what he does. They will make up reasons to hate the guy. Your bitching is a good example of this.

I find fault where I see it...and at this time, I am focused on what I see from Obama right now. Any other issue of fault on Obama's part is irrelevant.

I guess you have nothing relevant to the topic and that's why you constantly whine about poor Obama. Excuse me if I don't share your concern about him. I am more concerned for my neighbors who can't go home today.

I'm sorry you didn't find what you are looking for in my thread.

Perhaps you should start your own, eh?

Yeah you don't get the point I'm trying to make, which is unsurprising considering you were one of those "I'm not a birther BUT" partisans.

I'm just saying no matter what he does, he loses for people like you so your opinion means very little.

And what exactly is wrong with being a birther?

A few things:
Back during the oil spill, he stayed at home, this was a good decision in my opinion because we have these things called telecommunications lines that enable him to keep in touch while real experts deal with the situation. This fire thing is a similar situation I think. The situations are not that different.

However that isn't the real issue. The real issue is hypocrisy of people, maybe not you specifically, but you are simply one person and unimportant to the point I am making. Your comments are simply a useful jumping off point. You can continue to try to engage me if you want, but I really don't care. You have your answer, so now you can go away and I will make the more important points.

People should actually think about the president in a rational manner and not simply find ways to hate the guy. This whole fire thing is a perfect showcase for a problem the conservatives have been displaying since the guy got elected. He does a lot of things wrong, that is a given, but its never a good idea to seek fault for fault's sake.

I agree. He should stay home. He doesn't need to come to the Springs.

That is YOUR issue. It is not the issue of this (my) thread. Perhaps you should start your own thread on your issue and get the hell out of mine.

I have been perfectly rational in my posts. I have given reasons why I have my position. You, sir, have given no rational responses to the topic of this thread. You have only attempted to use it as a springboard for your whining about how conservatives treat poor Obama.

 I responded to you as you were starting to get annoying.

Either way, this whole thing is amusing watching the hypocrisy.

You have posted exactly zero responses relevant to the topic. You simply jumped into my thread to advance your contention on a topic that is separate and unrelated.

I suggest that...if you are annoyed by my thread...if you can't find within yourself a relevant comment to my topic...that you simply leave my thread.

Great. On top of everything going on here, now we have to deal with Obama. Heck, he'll probably stiff the city on the cost of security...like he has in many other places.

Obama...do Colorado Springs a favor: Stay away.

"Monster" Colorado wildfire rages; Obama plans visit - Yahoo! News

I'm not certain why any democrat in his right mind would go anywhere NEAR Colorado Springs under any circumstance. I doubt there is a more wackdoo right city anywhere in America.

He's probably tired of people bitching at him no matter what he does. Case in point. We know people will bitch if he doesn't come (shown in the oil spill) and now people are bitching if he does come.

You guys can keep regurgitating this same statement but how about you actually read the responses to the exact same comment previously. No one is bitching when he doesnt come. Colorado deals with wild fires every year as does much of the southwest. This is nothing new. This fire is just being publicized so the president is taking advantage. If we were going to bitch because he didnt come we would have bitched about the last 400 fires in the last 10 years when no president showed up. You should look into something before you just spew forth nonsense.

I think he SHOULD stay in Washington instead of turning our troubles into a campaign event. We don't need him here. There are rules and procedures for the City to receive Federal assistance. Those rules are being followed and they are working. He adds nothing by coming...except more costs for the City.

So you opposed Bush's eventual visit to Katrina on the same grounds? Wasting taxpayers money for no good reason, according to you? The President only visits a disaster zone as a PR stunt, they have no real compassion or interest in the events? Man, I'm cynical, but you are OUT THERE in the deep cynicism.

In case you didn't know, I live in CO, too, so you're talking for me as well. I like when a President takes time to visit a serious disaster area.

You really should learn to read...and learn not to put words in another's mouth.

Any consideration of past Presidents is nothing but deflection from this current issue and your implication that I think Obama has no real compassion or interest in our events is unwarranted. I've made no such statement.

I've said before that I speak for myself.

Now, it's nice that you like it that Obama is going to make an essentially useless visit...but I don't and I've stated my reasons throughout this thread.

btw, now that the visit (all three hours of it) has occurred, I would like to mention that our Mayor stated, up front and before the visit, that the Springs would provide NO security for the visit. So I'm satisfied. Obama got his campaign soundbites and it didn't cost the City a dime.

Yeah, and if Obama didn't show up you all would be complaining about that. Instead of complaining, maybe you should be out there lending a hand.

When something like this is happening who in their right mind is wondering where the president is or why he hasn't visited the area?

The priority is to put out the fire, not to play host to an official that needs a ton of extra security when nothing will come of his visit.

He's probably tired of people bitching at him no matter what he does. Case in point. We know people will bitch if he doesn't come (shown in the oil spill) and now people are bitching if he does come.

If you are correct, wouldn't the smart thing to do be not go and waste the money and man power that is sorely needed elsewhere?

I mean if people are going to bitch, save the money et al.

The wider problem is that people are going to find fault in obama no matter what he does. They will make up reasons to hate the guy. Your bitching is a good example of this.

Complaining about something = hate?
