BEDFORD COUNTY, VA --When Tim Morris got his mail last week he found a pretty big surprise, a document asking his dog Mozart to register to vote.
Not only is Mozart a dog but he's been dead for two years.
"I opened it up and looked at it and I just laughed," Morris said. "I thought it was a joke at first and it turns out it's real."
The form is addressed to Mo, the family's nickname for the dog.
What amazed Morris is that if Mozart was human he would have been eligible to vote for the first time in 2012.
"He would have been 19 years old this year and he passed away two years ago," he said. "I still have no earthly idea how they got his information."
10 On Your Side looked deeper and found that the voter registration forms were sent by the non-profit Voter Participation Center, not the State Board of Elections.

Is VA. taking a page from the Chicago vastly important 'dead vote'? Is this group actually ACORN undercover after being broken up by their own voter fraud scandals? I don't know the answer to those questions, but I do know that the leader of this group is a former Gore Alliance for Climate Protection worker, obviously not some right winger...

We need to keep a close eye on the vote this time around.

The bottom line is that nobody counts voter registration forms on election night. They count ballots.

That would be a bit easier if conspiracy theorists such as yourself actually kept an eye on votes and not people who are just sending out registration forms. You can't logically go from "well some non-profit sent a letter to a dog lol !!!1!" to "there's alot of dead people voting!!!" Logically is the keyword. If you base everything on your kind of logic, then you certainly can make that very silly logistical leap all day long.

The dog was a republican prior to it's death. He was deeply opposed to paw-outs to the strays.

Was "MO" a Yellow Dog by any chance?
Before Texas went Republican, there was a saying that even a Yellow Dog could win, if he ran as a Democrat! :)

I bet this guy is behind trhis

Everyone knows zombie dogs vote libertarian.

So how did they get a dogs name - with his address?

I'd be questioning the local businesses that have both bits of info together; vets, pet services, local registration offices. They shouldn't *have* access to pets names and addresses at all - unless the owner used their pet's name to sign up for something.

I've heard of one other instance of this happening and it was because the family a long time ago signed up at a petstore (I think petsmart) for one of those free reward cards under the dogs name. The dog hit the age of 18, petsmart sold the info thinking it was a person, someone sent voter registration form.

Regardless of how this happenned, the only way I see this as being newsworthy is if someone had actually tried to vote under the dogs name.
