Frustrated liberals want more from Obama [W:299]

Yes, he could close it and send all the detainees home -- including the ones they're pretty sure are guilty of something -- and that would have played how in Peoria?

Come on... we all know the plan was to move the ones they couldn't release to U.S. prisons and try them or others in U.S. courts. Congress, and to a lesser extent the American people, would not allow this. Unfortunately or not, the President cannot really imposed martial law and disband Congress over GITMO. He tried, he was blocked, he failed.

On the campaign trail, that "close GITMO" line sounded SO good. Reality is that transfering these violent morons to any Muslim country would assure their untimely release (even if we still pay them a lot of "aid" money). Is it not amazing that making a "list" and then simply zapping these morons (and all nearby) with drones is OK with Obama (and the therefore the left) yet rigorous interrogation is "wrong" and "unjust"? LOL

Well, thanks to Congress blocking the closing of GITMO, Obama is now just killing every supposed terrorist he can, and all the people caught in the collateral damage of the drone strikes are being retroactively labeled terrorists.

It's easier to say "I will clsoe GITMO in the 1st year of my presidency" than actually doing the deed. IMHO, President Obama had to have been briefed on the fact that "other" countries wouldn't take these GITMO folks before he won the election. Hell, we all knew it when Bush was in office.

He and his boob AG Holder wanted to "have a trial" in New York for show. But that didn't pan out either. So now he's stuck just like Bush was stuck. They are people who no one wants on their soil.

We didn't need other countries. We've tried, convicted, and held other terrorist in the past, and did so with no negative reprocustions. It was disingenuous fear mongering that hinder him most. That and the mistakes of the Bush adminstration that complicated trial.

President Obama said he would close GITMO in his 1st year. He didn't. Somewhere along the "campaign" trail to the POTUS job, one of his smart advisers, or some Demo stratagist/Senator/et al, should has smartened him up on the reality of the GITMO situation. He either didn't listen or they weren't very smart. As I stated common folks knew, if the read a paper at all, that countries that these prisioners were from wouldn't take them back. They didn't want to deal with them either.


Just shows what I've said all along, he hasn't the experience to be POTUS.

I knew it would have to be Bush's fault. How long can you Libs keep using this before even you thinks is starting to smell like a 3 day old flounder?

The fact of the matter is that even democrats in Congress wanted NOTHING to do with having terrorists housed, and tried in their states, even IL. So to try and make it look as though it was just republican obstruction is silly.

Again, Obama promised to close GITMO his 1st year, yes? What happened? My guess he found out being a community organizer didn't give you the experience, chops, abilities to be the POTUS.

One man's horrible/bad war is another man's good/swell war. How about Obama's war? I guess you are in support of the Afghan war, yes? That's a good war, yes?

I've linked what happened. Why are you pretending this hasn't been answered. He signed the order, republicans started fear mongering and congress caved. That is what happened, you have been answered.

And, not, the war never has smelled good. But Obama could never change what Bush did. Bush's action are not erased once someone else takes over, and it is disingenuous to pretend otherwise.

And yes, he broke laws. He used torture. That allow was enough to hinder him in a court of law. He had no faith in American ideals, and his actions harmed everyone.

I recall laughing at those who were wanting Gitmo closed and having public trials. It obviously meant that terrorists would instead be interrogated and killed in the field, and that's just what thankfully happening. These scum are more trouble than they're worth and its best to just off them elsewhere.
