Abu Yahya Al-Libi, a top Al Qaeda operative was killed in a U.S. drone strike Monday, Fox News confirms.
Al-Libi, known as a rock star in the jihadist world with his videos and lectures going viral on the Web, was the intended target of the strike, U.S. officials said.
The strikes have been increasingly unpopular among Pakistanis, but successful in recent years at taking out terrorist leaders.
Pakistan has evidence that Al-Libi was in a house hit by the U.S. drone strike, but it was initially unclear whether he was killed.
A U.S. official later confirmed his death.
“Abu Yahya was among al-Qaeda’s most experienced and versatile leaders," the official said. He "played a critical role in the group’s planning against the West, providing oversight of the external operations efforts.”

Geez, don't mess with American military and CIA capability. We can find a cockroach under any rock in the world sooner or later.

I stay skeptical about any news on who they have killed via drones. They also said they killed this man earlier and in fact he was still alive. Im going to wait until its independently verified especial because its from a drone.

Fair enough, but I believe it with the substantial network of informants that has been built in Pakistan over the years. I think we'd be shocked at what we've done over the past decade, though we won't hear about it for many years, if ever.

I find it ironic that Obama wanted to close Guantanamo Bay and do away with "torture," but yet he has no problem sending in a drone to kill terrorist leaders. Am I the only one that sees the double-standard in our President?!

Yea well he was caught in an attack in 2009 by a drone and was supposedly dead but in fact he was alive.
But a top Taliban leader said, "A militant commander in North Waziristan closely associated with foreign fighters however said: “He has not been killed. This is not the first time claims have been made about his death." Top al-Qaeda strategist, Abu Yahya killed in Pak drone strike | Firstpost

So in fact we might have to wait months to verify if he is actually dead or not. It wont surprise me either way.
Im just more worried about the civilian causalities US drones have inflected on the civilian population.

Trust me a lot of true leftists see it. And criticize him for it.

Man, that Obama dude (and his military) is one helluva terrorist killin' son-of-a-gun!

Sounds like he's getting them pretty well dialed in.

True leftists? I dont criticize for it anymore than I did Bush and I didn't criticize Bush for the strikes. Drone strikes are effective, targetted and to this date far more accurate than the rest of the US military in regards to unwanted casualties; American or other.

Well, it's always good to be certain before you start your mourning period.

No, almost everybody on the Far Right complains about it. I'm thinking they would rather have the terrorists live than have Obama get credit for killing them. Almost un-american.

True Leftists? That would be those on the Far Left of the political spectrum, who disapprove of every military action undertaken by the United States - especially the successful ones. Those true leftists?

What I find fascinating about this is how the Far Left and the Far Right are in unison on this. They both hate Obama for killing terrorists, although for different reasons.

Wait what? :lamo

Have you fallen off your rocker again?

The only thing I can think of, and this ISN'T defending Obama, is that the terrorists killed by these drone strikes seem to be heads of Al-Qaeda who are without a doubt terrorists, while many of those in Guantanamo Bay are very well possibly innocent and not dangerous.

Perhaps you could list for us the actions undertaken by the U.S. Military that met with your approval. Certainly killing Al Quaeda terrorists doesn't seem to be one, considering how all of you true leftists wring your hands with dispair every time it happens.

In other news, hundreds of civilians in Pakistan have died from drone strikes.

One way to stop this would be for the Pakistani government to kick all of the Al Quaeda terrorists the hell out of their country. However, since a sizable percentage of the Pakistani intelligence corps activily supports them, this would be difficult.

Then maybe they need to get their own government to deal with these people so we don't have to. When you support terrorists (which I define as in any way aiding, protecting, or shielding them) you are as guilty as they are, and I couldn't care any less how many of you we have to kill to get them.

All of al Qaeda is "number 2" if you know what I mean.
