New York Plans to Ban Sale of Big Sizes of Sugary Drinks

You missed my point. New Yorkers can pretend it will prevent them from having a large pop.

It is a nonsense limitation. Yes, you can buy 2 16oz sodas so you can get your 32 oz fill. But really, why have a law that bans the size of a product you can buy? Freedom in the market.

Again, you missed my point. I'm not defending the law, I'm attacking the victim mentality bull**** non-New Yorkers employ when they pretend that this stupid law affects them in some way, when it doesn't.

It's a stupid law. It won't work. Sucks to be a New Yorker.

I see nothing wrong with Hash Browns......

Hash browns are also yummy. It's a lost art on the East Coast it seems. Actually, I don't think they properly understand breakfast at all. I mean, they have no biscuits and gravy out here. How the hell do they not have biscuits and gravy!? Sounds like communism to me! And pork roll....WTF is pork roll. I've seen many a pig in my day, I ain't ever seen a "pork roll".

I get what you are saying. If you ain't from New York, why complain. These are the laws that need to be put in check immeadiately so that they don't spread. I don't want this falling over the border into CT.

I can't wait for this to reach Greenwhich. :)

They have them, you are just in the wrong part of the east coast.

I have to agree, there are no good biscuits and gravy to be found in the great north east. South Carolina and Georgia...the home of great biscuits and gravy. Also, some Army mess halls had awesome biscuits and gravy...or SOS.

They have them in the Southeast. I never ate biscuits and gravy until moving down south. Personally, I'm not a fan of it. I don't think they know how to do breakfast here  They don't but ketchup on their eggs, they drink tea with sugar in it and everything is either buttered or fried.

It's all a matter of perspective I guess.

No, piss and moan all you want. People shouldn't try to play the victim, though.

That's the big government mentality at work. "I don't like their laws, lets force them to change them."

I don't want this falling over the border into CT.

The way to do that is to only vote for people in CT that won't pass such stupid laws and convince other people in CT to only vote for people that do not pass such stupid laws. If that all fails, and you oppose the laws enough, then move to another place that doesn't have these stupid laws.

This whole line of quote / replies is just hilarious! And yes NC, SC have great hash browns and biscuits and gravy.

and grits!

The law is limiting the freedom in the market. It is a bad trend, and I would hope that it never passes and if it does pass gets struck down. Limiting people's choices is the same as limiting their freedoms. That is small government mentality. Stay out of my personal decision making. Let me choose the size of soda I find appropriate for myself.

Of course you vote for people who agree with your position and try to influence others to see your position when voting. But that doesn't excuse the fact that I find this law as a way of limiting freedom.

If bloomberg keeps this crap up no one will want to visit your crappy city. I know for a fact that I never will.

You've gone to the point of saying nobody will visit America's premier city if they can't buy a 2 liter at a movie theater.

I'm going to chalk that one up to hyperbole.

The only people I know of who don't like biscuits and gravy are communists and terrorists.

Also hot sauce goes on eggs, not ketchup.

Nobody has limited your choices of soda sizes. Stop pretending that you are being victimized. If you don't want to be affected by this law, then stay the **** out of New York. See how simple that is?

Bully for you. Like I said, piss and moan all you want. Stop pretending it affects you, though. You are lying when you do that.

Please stop side stepping what I am saying. This is a limitation on freedoms. No ones freedoms should be limited in our country. The freedom of choice should be maintained. I don't care if I can buy a 32 oz of soda. I care if someone else can or can't.

Pissing and moaning? What are you reading? How am I lying? I live and work in and around NYC. Anything that happens in this unbelievably huge area of the world effects the outlying regions. In thoughts and actions. No one is pissing and moaning. As a libertarian, I choose freedom, not limitations.

*stands in solidarity with those milquetoast new yorkers who are not inclined to express their opinions*

do you see the finger?

@Tucker Case

While I disagree with his stance, I don't think it's a strong argument against Blue_State to merely say that if you don't agree with the law, then move. People put up with laws they disagree with everywhere but are forced to cope with them or must attempt to change the law. I can see your point, that this isn't a proposed piece of federal legislation, but to many New Yorkers, especially those with a low income, we can assume that it might as well be.

I disagree with him in that I think the market system is flawed and needs to be altered by the hand of government in order to address health concerns, among other things.

Ummm you do know that in a society freedoms are often curtailed for the benefit of said society, right? You don't have the right to buy nuclear bombs. You don't have the right to buy dangerous materials. Dangerous goods are often removed from the shelves if they are found to be a threat to society. So, your viewpoint is a tad bit warped.

Sorry, but all freedoms should not be indulged. Businesses are concerned solely with generating wealth, public health be damned.

if we adopted your analogy we should then conclude that small nuclear bombs could be available for purchase while larger ones could not
try again
