New York Plans to Ban Sale of Big Sizes of Sugary Drinks

It would take a person from chicago to think making a single fold in half as "oragami", I am suprised chicagoans know how to operate a fork AND a knife..... well the knife maybe, the way they etch into the tables and sumsuch, :2razz:

****, you went to a chain restaurant and considered that a real Chicago pizza. That tells you how ****ed up your analysis is. :2razz:

Using the KISS principle, perhaps NYC should post a large sign "CAUTION: This establishment is allowed to serve large sugary drinks, enter at your own risk" which would have done the job nicely. Instead the stores may now post a sign saying "Sorry, our sugary drink portions are limitted by law, please feel free to buy two." ;-)

if you think NYC sucks due to the views of children, decades ago...I can't help you.

Wow, you didn't read what was written, that's for sure.

NYC 2012 is quite different than NYC 1986.

Second time you have mentioned 1986... is that a watershed year for you or something? Maybe your birth?

fresh onions, mustard, ketchup.......sounds awesome to me.

one hot dog should be a whole meal. Its not in NYC. :(

In West Virginny they put chili and coleslaw on the same hot dog......

If people are putting ketchup on a Chicago dog, they're doing it wrong. Nobody, I mean nobody, puts ketchup on a hotdog. (extra credit to anyone who catches the movie reference here)

Shhhhhhhhh. Bloomberg might send in undercovers to "study" the problem and try to embarrass all the eaters over there.

Is someone looking for their father?

Another thing.

If your dogs are not Kosher, you are missing out, and quite possibly eating something you really do not want to think about.

So now I'm not allowed to buy a big coke at the movies if I want one? What's next, my quarter pounded with cheese will be reduced to a sixteenth pounder?

Here's your nanny state liberals love so much. "Gimme money, gimme healthcare, gimme all day to sit on my butt, and if I get fat eating value meals, it's the government's fault."

Sad. Pathetic. Is this really what we want government doing?

I bet students in NY arent to happy about this, I'ld get **** all done without obscene amounts of sugar and caffeine.

Excellent move by Mr Bloomberg to set a precedent in my opinion. Obesity is a huge public health concern (to put it extremely kindly) and steps must be taken to limit the intake of extremely unhealthy, sugary foods. Because sugary drinks make up such a large percentage of our collective sugar intake, putting the brakes on consumption makes absolute sense.

What this 'serving' size nonsense accomplishes is beyond me, since even an obese moron can now simply buy two 16 oz. sodas instead of one 32 oz. soda, so it is simply an exercise in time wasting and poses inventory restrictions on many retaliers. Curiously 'free refills' are still allowed.

A small warning on a pack of cigarettes did nothing at all to make them safer, but the campaign against smoking has arguably been largest health victory of the last century in the US.

They can still buy the drinks at a market or bodega, it's not like 2 liter Cokes are going the way of the dinosaur just yet. They are now banned at movie theaters, restaurants, and hopefully schools in any size.

Clint Eastwood in the Sudden Impact. It's what makes him sick!

In some aspects, yes. I'm a fan of motorcycle helmet laws and seatbelt laws as well.

I also strongly dislike the image of America as a morbidly obese nation.

Anyways, seeing as the thread has veered off...NYC hotdogs are quite overrated, but at least they have sauerkraut readily available at most places (unlike Boston). In my opinion, it's all about the pretzels.

Chicago dogs, like chicago pizza, is far superior.

Why?
Especially when the passage of such laws were and are pushed by the big bad insurance companies.

if the government wants to require information to be placed on the soda containers to inform the public what they are consuming, not a problem
if the government wants to prohibit a person from buying something that has the potential to harm no one but themself, that is nanny state intrusion

and yet, millions of tourists come here every year from everywhere.

I bet even you've been here a few times, or have relatives who have visited or even moved here.

Everyone loves to bash us, but they still love us. :)

They go there and then they leave. Doesn't sound like they like you all that much.

we rebuilt our city after the worst terrorist attack in American history.

And it only took 10 years, which you ought to be eternally embarrassed by.
