Catholics sue Obama over birth control mandate

nope i ALWAYS want separation of church and state like the church has no say in what the state puts forth as law when they pay NO taxes.

So your view of "separation of church and state" is the state gets to dictate to the church what thier health care coverage they choose to provide covers..... you are being serious?

why hasn't the Catholic Church suggested an optional-rider for birth control/abortion/circumcision/elective vasectomy-hysteroctomy?

Funny how libs conveniently forget that every day. It's easy to scream for higher taxes when you pay none.

Funny how others conveniently forget (or do not understand), that everyone who works, buys gas, groceries, or has power to their home pays taxes. Payroll tax is a federal tax....and state taxes are freakin' everywhere.

Religious organizations avoid virtually all of it.

Because...then they can't act all butt-hurt.

So all I have to do is join a church to avoid taxes?

my god, Just when you thought the illogic couldn't get any deeper. /facepalm

That's not what he said, Rev.

Although I do believe that the fact that religious orgs don't pay taxes is irrelevant to the issue of the BC mandate.

that is pretty much what his logic leads to. he keeps yapping about tax issues, then compares a religious organization, made up of tax payers, to, wait for it.... tax payers as individuals.... but says the organization of tax payers is exempt, meaning, from what I gather, the government should be able to dictate to it or something, there his "logic" loses me. I bet he'll also be one of those "corporations aren't peoplez".....

See his simplistic disconnect? :ssst:

I am a Catholic and go to church with Catholics. Most of us don't support the church suing and as noted above, approve birth control. Many of us think the church is out of touch and don't understand hy they are so wrong on this issue.

This. It's not the average Catholic who is opposed to this BC mandate, it's the (male) leaders of the Catholic Church who are opposed to it. It's really no different from the CEOs of oil companies manufacturing dissent about AGW to protect their interests; the bishops, cardinals, deacons and pope are looking out for their theological interests. Nothing more.

I am not sure about that. Most catholics I know oppose gay marriage. But then again i dont know them all.

Obama's suing Arizona over its right to protect its borders. The Catholic Church is suing Obama over his infringement on their rights. The Supreme Court is about to vote on an unprecedented power play by Obama to mandate the purchase of health insurance.

Stay tuned for more of "Obama versus the United States of America."

Catholics sue the Government over birth control? Which Catholics? My wife is Catholic and is in favor of birth control, and the vast majority of Catholics are also in favor.

But you are right about something. The issue here IS control, that is a church that will go to the ends of the earth and do very satanic things in order to maintain control over believers. Take the Inquisition, for instance. Better yet, take the heresy that only a priest or the pope can intercede with God on behalf of a believer. Now that's control.... and that's a heretical lie too. Jesus said that all one has to do to gain eternal life is to believe in him, and ask for forgiveness. Jesus didn't say go to a priest and have him speak for you. He only said "Ask and it will be given". That forgiveness comes from God, not from a corporation that masquerades as a church, which is a concept that is satanic, not godly.

I actually use the churches words when they hired me back when, They said it was part of my pay. Today, I also help in negotiations with my current employer. They too refer to it as pay. So, I see nothing I state concerning this only my personal opinion.

Yes, I worked for Several years at a Catholic hospital in Iowa City Iowa. But, you don't have to take my word for it:

If you own your own business, your employee compensation and benefits package can be the deciding factor for many potential employees. And it's not just the money.

HowStuffWorks "How Employee Compensation Works"

Benefits are forms of value, other than payment, that are provided to the employee in return for their contribution to the organization, that is, for doing their job.

Employee Benefits and Compensation (Employee Pay)

You can also go ask your employer if health insurance is compensation or just at his pleasure. Give it a shot. ;)

Agian, and you are ignoring this, the Church is not forced to pay for abortions or contracptions. The insurance company pays for this. Whether this is from the employees own cash, it gets from the church, or the insurance comapny, it is the employee, not the church, who is paying for and getting the service.

If an employer offers you $50K/yr + $20K company automobile vs $70K/yr straight salary, you are free to accept or reject it. It is at their pleasure what the content of the compensation package they offer to you is. You don't get to decide that it's going to be a $30K company automobile, just as you don't get to choose whether a health insurance package they offer you contains birth control provisions or not.

You can take it or leave it as is, but you can't change the content of the package, unless you negotiate it with the employer and they agree.

it's very relevent when the church tries to effect legislation when they pay no taxes and are supposed to be seperate from the state.

nope i just don't think the church has any right telling the state what laws it can pass and what laws it can't pass when they pay no taxes. are you serious i thought you were for separation of church and state.

I am of the belief that a lot of people pay no taxes. When I was making under 40K/year I didnt pay any.
wow i make under 40k/year and still pay them please let us in on what you did to not pay ANY taxes.

like i said before those tax payers who are a part of a religious organization need to vote and NOT the non tax paying organization. i'll keep yapping as long as you do.

I was referring to federal taxes.
hey i'm willing to get a lesson on not paying federal taxes that would help a lot. i think it's something like a 1/4 of my check goes to the federal income tax.

No.....you have to start one

my god, Just when you thought the illogic couldn't get any deeper. /facepalm

I think you either do not understand what logic entails....or lack general comprehension depth.

i'll keep yapping as long as you do.

given that my yapping refutes your "argument", shredding your nonsense, and yours is just jibber jabber, I'll take it as a win. The separation of church and state goes both ways, the FEDGOV is constitutionally prohibited of interfering with thier free exercise there of. You can't compell them to do something you agree with, just cause, bro.
