Anyone who supported his release has questionable morals - where's the sense in unleashing an obviously tainted foul individual into the world to taste freedom after proving content in robbing so many of their own?

What is that logic? "Oh - when they get sick enough we'll set them free". . . gee :roll:

I seriously regret that extradition didn't happen.

You're not privy to the circumstances of his detention or release...

so why make assumptions?

A few news outlets mentioned a bartered oil deal with BP before the media scuttled on to something else as quick as they could at the time of his transfer to his homestate...

none of us are in intelligence so why even bother throwing feces...

Phew. Thank goodness, because that daily barrage of the US government going on and on and on and on, dominating every news program, site, print media, and even here...that was getting tiresome.

I think maybe somebody with a teensy tiny penis was just looking for an opportunity to bash at America when they started this thread.

As for " America bashing" why is it whenever you have a negative opinion on America on an issue its American bashing? I was annoyed as were many others at the American government's response to the release of a British prisoner, I felt like it was not any of Americas business and that they were wrong to try and interfere with British domestic policy. Stop crying "American hater. American basher" when posters have a negative thing to say about the US. It makes you sound like a whiny bitch.

questionable morals? Really?

I would say it was more a case of having a little commen sense, why pay for this guy to die in a British hospital when we can get rid of him and let him die somewhere else. Also can you imagine the scandal if he had won his appeal and it tunred out the whole case was a farce?

Too funny. You START a thread where you whine about big bad evil America and a subject that apparently you are the only person that even gives a **** about (when did the prisoner release happen again? Where is this incessant bashing you shat yourself over?). If anyone needs to 'get over' something...its probably the whiny bitch that started the thread, whoever that was.
 
Seems to me that he's not the one pissing and whining about it here.

Scandalous or not, that's the process that should have been pursued to respect the integrity of the legal system. He should either have remained in prison or been freed with his conviction's being overturned through the proper legal process. It should be noted that he had lost an earlier appeal attempt. There is no assurance that he would automatically have been acquitted had a new appeal taken place, assuming legitimate legal grounds existed for such an appeal to have been heard.

Actually I started a thread about the man who was supposed to be responsible for the Lockerbie bombing dying, I mentioned the US Gov because they have commented for the last 3 years about how he was still alive and even questioned how Ill he was as have plenty of posters on this site. It was a big political conflict between the US and many people in the UK who didnt approve of the tone used by the US media and the US Gov, no one used the words " Big Bad America" ( you did and it sounds absurd). End of the day we were having a discussion about the lockerbie bomber killer dying and you came into the thread talking about penis envy and about how the world was out to get America, it wasn't relevant and it made you sound a little silly.

LONDON, Feb 17 (Reuters) - BP Plc (BP.L), recovering from last year's Gulf of Mexico oil spill, plans to begin offshore exploration drilling in Libya by the end of June, later than previously expected.

Spokesman Robert Wine said on Thursday that BP expected to drill offshore in Libya in the first half of this year and that work on an onshore well would begin sooner.

The Libyan drilling will be the first under a $900 million deal BP signed with Libya in 2007 after the lifting of international sanctions on Libya removed barriers to doing business in the country.

At the time, BP described the deal as its largest single exploration commitment.

BP's Libyan plans have aroused suspicion in the United States, where some politicians have said the British government and BP wanted convicted Lockerbie bomber Abdel Basset al-Megrahi released to smooth BP's deal with Libya. He was freed by Scottish authorities in 2009.

Gaddafi: Prisoner deal was for oil

THE deal which led to the release of the Lockerbie bomber was “struck for oil”, it was claimed yesterday.

Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi’s son said the Prisoner Transfer Agreement signed by Tony Blair was done with Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi in mind.

But Saif Gaddafi claimed the bomber was deliberately never mentioned by name during the talks with the ex-PM.

Mr Gaddafi said: “When Blair came to Libya in 2007 we didn’t mention Mr Megrahi. We signed an oil deal at the same time.

“The commerce and politics and deals were all with the Prisoner Transfer Agreement.” He also said the celebrations which greeted the return of Megrahi — convicted of killing 270 people in the 1988 attack — “weren’t a hero’s welcome”.

He claimed Libyans were touched by the compassionate release and that was why Saltires were waved.Last night SNP Westminster leader Angus Robertson called on the UK Government “to open up on Blair and Gordon Brown’s dealings” with Libya.

Meanwhile Labour justice spokesman Richard Baker has asked the Civil Service to probe claims Scottish Government staff put pressure on the police over Megrahi’s release.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. I have this strong feeling Gaddafi either reneged on the deal or wanted more money AFTER they got Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi back and the EU got ticked off and decided it was "Humanitarian" to get rid of Gadaffi. So, let me get this straight. The same people that started 2 world wars costing 100 million lives + death camps in the last 100 years now are humanitarians? Really?
