Not many people go there as tourists let alone for a westerner to work in such a place.

I feel for the guy and his family, I really do. However, there is a reason the state department puts out the warnings it does for Americans traveling and working abroad.

IIRC this was the guy that was kidnapped last year and Al-Qaeda made an insane list of demands that will of course never be met.

AQ has got to know that it is a poor PR stunt on thier part. Stop airstrikes, release all AQ and Taliban prisoners. They have to be complete duds to believe that those demands would be met.

Turn it around to them. the lives of the AQ and Taliban prisoners are in your hands. Kill Weinstein, they will cease to exists.

Yea I know, we are more civilized that AQ and should not make threat using prisoners. AQ does not play by our rule book. Exceptions on how we respond should be made.

Emotionally, that's exactly what I'd like to do. Rationally, I realize the backlash would be untenable.

What I find facinating is AQ, does all these suicide bombings killing/injury their own people. Yet, very little "backlash" is seen by the world press. More importantly, from the people. How can the people of Pakastan, Afiganistan, continue to put up with this.

So while you may be correct the US/NATO would face a negative backlash if did away with all terrorist prisoners. Since the world most likely does not know who all is being held, some could just be made to disapear.
