May Day protests and traffic jams quickly turned to vandalism and chaos Tuesday in downtown Seattle.

Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn issued an emergency order that will allow police to confiscate such items as sticks that vandals have been carrying to smash windows. McGinn said he worried that the vandalism could continue at marches scheduled for later Tuesday.

Ah the peaceful protest of OWS and May day. You guys should be so proud!!!

The government has been asking for a bit of the ol' ultraviolence for some time now. Bought time it starts receiving it.

Your support for anarchy and lawlessness is duly noted.

These guys need their sticks taken from them and it shoved up their ass.

I support the right of the People to violently oppose their government should it stop working for them for too long and too grievously infringe upon their rights and liberties. Yes.

Would you allow the government to violently oppose them for putting others in harm and endangering peace? Free speech is one thing, but violence and vandalism shouldn't be acceptable.

I would expect the government to resist.

Yes busting windows out of businesses really accomplishes that. These morons better be careful or they will be met with violence from business owners who won't wait for the police.

Yeah a lot of it turns into looting, which I never understood. If you're pissed at government action, you should be burning down government buildings.

But they aren't pissed at government. They are pissed at capitalism, which is basically the economic system which supports the things that the protestors hold dear.

As predictable as the sun; the right is a big fan of violence.

As to the OP, one can never rule out the possibility of agent provocateurs in this type of situation (establishment desperate to discredit). From the OP's link:

Some protesters tried to stop the vandalism, but were ignored.

No, they're pissed off at corporatism, which is a mixture of Corporate entity with the State and is very very anti-free market and facilitated through government action.

Update on Seattle: MayDay: It was just announced that #OccupySeattle has taken over the courthouse. #OWS

:party:rock:usflag2:
Hells yea!

But they don't really want a free market. They want free-bies. They want to have all their needs met regardless of their own input.

Sounds to me like a bunch of thugs who enjoy destroying property and raising hell. They're "anarchists?" What do they think they're going to accomplish rioting in Seattle, bring down the government? Maybe they mixed up Washington DC and Washington State.

Their mothers should have taken them by the ear years ago and made them face up to their misdeeds. It's too late for that now, so they need to be put in a chain gang and made to work off the cost of the damage they have done.

Anarchists, indeed. They're just a bunch of hooligans that need to be reined in.

What you wont hear about is the vast majority peaceful marches... Here we go "Lets focus on the bad ****ty part, that makes the news cuz violence gets the masses attention!"

So you would support an armed insurrection to get rid of Obama?

So they trashed 'the government' did they? :lamo

Since you advocate for anarchy and no rules, heres hoping the next group of stores are owned by people that decide to handle those little assholes in an appropriate manner.

I don't advocate anarchy, don't say things I didn't propose. I said that violent resistance is acceptable should the government act against its People and against their rights and liberties for too long. Please understand the difference.

Yep, little chicken-**** bastards are pissed at government, so they destroy private property- Einsteins that they are.

I don't think that is proper analysis of the aggregate of OWS.

I wonder just how many red coats said the exact same thing?
