Police Chiefs Focus on Disparities in Gun Violence, With an Eye Toward Solutions

Can you show us any such correlation ? I'm not going to do homework for you, but the incidence of bastard kids is highest within the black community. Pick any income level.

Black culture foments the poor choices made, that then foment the higher levels of poverty and criminality. As you infer, I believe, enabling such poor choices with such as the War on Poverty only made things worse.

I'm not going to do your homework for you, either. If you can show that blacks have a higher incidence of out of wedlock births than whites of the same socioeconomic group, then by all means, let's see it.

I'm sorry, this is measured fact. All places have their assholes, but the East sets the bar. Biggest assholes in the country.

If you had said it was the NORTHeast, I would have agreed with you wholeheartedly.

When you have scores of young men out of work with nothing but Idle time and empty pockets...what else would you expect ?

I wouldn't expect gun violece. Come on, now. That's not a rational argument. I do not believe that poverty is the whole cause. It may be a contributing factor, but I would be more inclined to believe that the poverty is partly the result of the cause- which is a hereditary lack of ambition and a culture of violence.

Wow -- you are a rare commodity! A gun rights advocate who can admit that *some* regulation =/= they're tring to take all our guns away.

I am for self regulation...as in not government mandated. I HATE how some people treat firearms. They are careless or stupid or just generally so a lack of concern for everyone else in terms of how they reflect upon the crowd. If we push and push for safety, or require people to do background checks at our gun shows and so on...and police the parking lots so people arent selling in the lots...we could really take the stigma off the gun show. But as of right now there are a few rotten apples spoiling the bunch.

As I have spent a little more time at guns shows, I don't know if I would agree with that. There is little regulation going on at gunshows. I think we in the shooting community need to start policing them a litte more tightly. The more responsible we are, the less ammunition they will have (pun intended).

You are right. I wrote that the ATF WOULD have a record and really should have said SHOULD have a record.
Any person purchasing 30 guns from a dealer would be suspect and the ATF SHOULD be notified. If an officer witnesses someone buying 30 weapons from individuals, then that officer is derilict in his duty if he does not investigate further.

I got ya. I actually was at a gun show not long ago. It felt odd about trying to buy a gun there, but there were several guys there who had stores who were the BEST to buy from. They made sure and checked IDs and stuff like that even though we just bought ammo. It was nice. Some responsibility. Some guys did the same with knives.

I have bought three pistols from gun shows. Two for me and one for my Mom. (I shopped, she bought, so it was not a proxy thing). I

I have been to 5 gun shows in the last year. In those trips; Every purchase I saw was properly run through all the right channels. I saw ONE GUY walking around with a sign that said he had a pistol for sale. The only other guns I saw for sale by private owners were vintage rifles and shotguns.

I am not saying that the private sales of 30 guns does not happen, I am saying that I want to see documentation that Texas police "regularly witness it".
