Mexico Seized 68,000 Guns Traceable to U.S.

So let's stop it by legalizing all recreational drugs so disputes among the recreational drug industry can be resolved by the legal system rather than by the use of lethal weapons.
Do you think criminal enterprises like the cartels will simply go out of business or will they switch to some other criminal activity? What other criminal activities would be as lucrative?

A lot of conventional thinking around here, like horsies with blinders. NO one is asking the main question. Is it an impeachable offense? Why or why not? If the WH knew in advance, and have admitted as much, and the whole thing escalates into this uncontrolled bloodbath in Mexico, the Federal Government is liable, yes?

I am not sure if anybody knows. The republicans haven't moved to impeach Obama over this,so maybe its not an impeachable offense.

True, but it is a chargeable offense for those in the DOJ and ATF.

Certainly makes it obvious why operations like Fast & Furious were contemplated. Too bad they were run so poorly.

What are you talking about? The operation was a resounding success, if you understand that it was always intended to be a gun-running operation as opposed to a criminal sting. Anything that can get Langley's friends in the Sinaloa cartel some extra umph against the Zetas is much appreciated. You don't interfere with the Company's business ventures and get away with it.

Cigarettes are legal. There's still a black market for cigarettes.

The ilegal drug trade will never go away. The only thing that will change, is the reason for the drugs being illegal.

Why do you think there is a black market for cigarettes? The answer is pretty simple: Trade In Black-Market Cigarettes: Hot, Dangerous : NPR.

If you understand the above that it was not really a partisan issue, but a way of keeping the situation in Mexico favorable to America's "strategic interests" it is obvious why they would not be going for the jugular. Heaven forbid people actually start asking about the exact nature of the relationship between our intelligence services and organized crime. Don't want a repeat of the 70's.
